YES.
They are still awesome in concert. Jon Andersons voice is as great as ever, the band play as tight as always and they are as old as Deep Purple.

Not sure I agree - Steve Howe's playing is still great, but he seems to have lost some of the fire he had early on...

Just saw McCartney - he can most definitely still deliver... Jeff Beck can... I know Blackmore can - his tone isn't as good as it was before...

I've read all replies, but I can't say that someone mentioned a band that was big 20-30 years ago and still delivers the same today.

A lot of bands still deliver great shows, but the most wanted songs are the classics.
Several singers/musicians come close to their heydays.
Some released new cds others haven't released something new for years.
From the cds of these bands I know there isn't one that comes close to their best.

I see names like Rush (one of my favourites, great live show), but the last cds (studio) didn't come close to 2112, Moving Pictures etc.
Same goes for Maiden, Yes, Pink Floyd.

So i think a lot of people expect to much from DP.
That doesn't mean they can't be critized. Their shows could be more adventurous and not everything they record is 'perfect'.
Nor are the performances of members faultless.

But I'm pleased there is a DP around.

I would argue that Maidens last 2 studio albums are every bit as good as anything they produced in the 80s

D-A-D / Disneyland After Dark.

Well, it's only around 20 years now with ups and downs. But their 2005 album "Scare Yourself" is a very good one...

Second that, what a tour, saw them playing for 350 people in my hometown, and they recorded the gig ( there were stage mics pointed at the audience ) emoticon

How about Aerosmith and AC/DC?

Aerosmith shows are better today with Stephen sober, but the material, other then Bobo of course, they release today just plain sux when compareded to, say, Rocks or Draw the line. AC/DC still puts on a great show, but Brians voice isn't what it used to be, hasn't been since ´85, and Angus, well, go on and put on your Let there be rock vhs, and judge for yourself... their albums are getting better and better though since the dreadfull razors edge, and I've got my fingers crossed for the new one, should it see the day of light soon...

Now, how about The Black Crowes, judgeing from the Boot recordings and semi official instant live recordings, I'd say they're even better live today then on the Black Moon Creeping tour...

I agree that Rush and Aerosmith are still GREAT live but I too am dubious of their recent albums.

I nominate the Allman Brothers and Steve Hackett as artists who still record great albums and perform like masters. Jeff Beck is still a monster, too; while I did not ENJOY his past 3 CDs, his playing is top notch.

'got the point there bro'.
every single word. unfortunately they cannot give us what they used to do back in the 70ties. i'll just give you/us example of Rapture Of The Deep.

I'm really satesfied with that release. it definately couldn't be In Rock, or Machinehead but it defiantely is Deep Purple. An old Deep Purple.
Is it going to atract new fans??? NO
Are we/old fans going to be happy with it and accept it??? YES

we are getting old

and... who can still do now what used to do 20-30 ago??? Ronie James DIO

I don't think so. They're good, but unlike in the 1980s (up to SIT album), the're aren't many great songs. Take the opening track of BNW: it opens like an old Judas Priest song!

That was one of the intimate shows, or? Everything was sold out when I checked, so we settled for a sold out Tobakken in Esbjerg. They played there for full house 3 days in a row, I think...

Great show.
