Why are you a DP fan?
Wow! So lucky I found a Deep Purple community! I´ve always been a big DP fan and now I can talk to others like me! .
Why are you (reader) a DP fan?
Personally, I love them because of the Lord/Glover combination. Those are musicians!... I don't like their lyrics very much, though...
What about you?

Re: Why are you a DP fan?
I was about 10-11 years old when a mate played DP for me. The first song I heard was Speed King, I think. It was like recieving a good punch on one's nose. I just c ouldn't believe anyone can play something so amazing - the power, the skill...
That was back in 1984. And here I am!

Q: Why are you a DP fan?
A: Because my Mom told me to be one. /

Re: Why are you a DP fan?
I really don't know. But maybe because they're somewhat special like no one else.
I've always liked "difficult" music.

They blend different types of sounds together. They are ELP meets Creem.

Re: Why are you a DP fan?
Always GREAT stuff!
With all the lineups, I feel I'm getting more than just the one band. Yet, it's still DEEP PURPLE.
1 The Rod Evans era
2 Classic MK II era
3 The Coverdale/Hughes era
4 Reunion MK II era (which sounds nothing like early MK II)
5 Morse era.
Only the Beatles are as near and dear to my heart. I guess I like a band that is willing to explore.

Re: Why are you a DP fan?
the first time i heard purple was Hush in '69, but in '70 while living germany i heard Black Night playing on a jukebox in our teen center, the guitar solo really grabbed me and IG did a great job singing. they became my favoite band until i bought Master of Reality. I pretty much like the the MK1, MK2 and MK3 Purples. My favorite record is Fireball.

Re: Why are you a DP fan?
Because of the organ!!
I had never heard organ played like that before. So soulful, yet rockish, yet searing, yet screaming, yet gospel-eee. I never knew listening to some of those organ solos whether it was Sunday Morning somewhere in a church in Mississippi, or Friday night at a place in London or Germany...so hard to define sometimes, but so good.
So dark, yet gentle, yet menacing, yet powerful, yet solid.
Hard to put into words why I like it. It just changed my life...that's all I can say.
