Re: If you don't like it...

The only thing I'll add to what Killer Bananas said way, way back on page 1, is that there is little to be gained by going into the board that favors the people who think differently than you, just to bash them.

I for one am very pro Mk1 and 2a, so I tend to stay away from the Joey Lynn Turner and the Tommy Bolin boards. And it's not that I have anything against those two musicians. It's just I never followed that era of DP too closely, so I have nothing intelligent or meaningful to contribute. I mean I could bash them, but at what expense? Getting people here angry at me? Hardly seems worth it.

So instead I go to the boards where I'm more knowledgable on the subject matter and say positive things there.

I would say, if one doesn't care for the current line up, they should go to the topics that highlight the past. It's not wrong to live in the past (heck, I do it all the time around this place), but it's wrong to force a "pro-past" opinion down the throats of people who happen to love and respect the Mk VIII lineup very much.

I've seen this forum go through a lot lately, but I'm not scared it's going to collapse either. Stuff gets said, folks get upset, but somehow we all just manage to move on.

I'm working toward owning all 18 studio albums on CD. I'm five short for the time being, but I'm adding three to the checklist next week. When I'm done, I intend to go back over each of them with a fine toothed comb, if for no other reason, to gain an equal appreciation for all of them instead of polarized opinions on a few of them.

And Killer Bananas, maybe the purpose of the forum is to state your opinions about the celebrities, not the members of the forum. If what you said was that bad, then maybe that's the reason your sticky got deleted, but aside from that, I don't see why anyone wouldn't welcome more discussion from you, so long as you can keep it less "aggressive" toward others.

A lot of what you had to say made sense to me, but maybe it needs to be worded less strongly. I don't know for sure, your post was gone before I could see it.

My advice is to not lose sleep over it. Enjoy the band instead. emoticon

There is "NO" point in bashing these guys (Bolin and JLT), these guys is "NO" longer in Purple for 30 and 14 years, if you bashed these musicians then it's just anger, and you can't blame these guys forever, it's like you live in a poor country that's being run by a dictator for 20 years, let's say from 1955-75 and until now you still blame that past prez for todays problem, by the way JLT has been bashed here more than Morse.

a) Au contraire, my friend. At the very least - speaking for myself - the satiric/comedic value alone is worth it. Even if it only makes me laugh. emoticon

b) True enough and reason(s) enough to give thanks on a daily basis. emoticon

c) Au contraire, my friend. See a) above. emoticon And besides, if I still feel like 'booting something that I bloody well bought' (any albums or cds or concerts or whatevers) and felt or still feel disappointment with, then I - and anyone else - should feel free to do so...or not.
You may have a 'sorta' point regarding the 'anger' thing...speaking for myself, it just may be that I'm angry at myself for giving someone chance after chance after chance after chance to redeem(?) acquit(?) themselves and having that someone still disappoint (which by the way, edges very close to being one of the primary sub-definitions of insane behavior - trying the same thing over & over and getting the same negative result yet trying the very same thing again & again expecting a wholly different result); thus the 'self anger' gets re-directed at the other half of the source (the artist). Even if it is 'anger', it's not anger of a personal nature, more the anger of a disappointed consumer/customer.

d) I can if I want...so can anyone else - or not. emoticon

e) Er...not exactly, but I think I do get what you're trying to say here. I just think the analogy is a little 'unbalanced' - after all, we are only talking about rock music and rock music performers, people whom most certainly shouldn't be charged with anyone else's health/safety/welfare, as most of them demonstrate that they have enough to do simply looking out for their own health/safety/welfare, let alone anyone else's.

f) Absolutely true. A sterling example of seeing that sometimes, yes indeed, life can be fair. emoticon

No, you shouldn't have bothered in the first place. My advice to you is don't turn up. We don't need people like you spoiling our glorious party.
