Re: Rockline
I'm trying to remember atleast one thing that hasn't been covered before...Roger telling us that ROTD was done in no more than 3 takes...and some overdubbs...Gillan wrote all but 4 songs, collaborating with Rog on the rest...
Yet people are trying to establish it as a fact that it's nothing more than a cut and paste job...Gillan wasn't there for the entire recording, bla bla bla...all he did was the same thing Don did on Bananas, come back in and do some overdubbs...and everyone takes that as if they didn't make this album_together_I say bull to that!
He may have been working on Gillans Inn at the time of recording, but it seems to me that it only coincided, being in the same region of the planet.
Btw,cut and paste is the way things are done in this day and age,and it's hard to make a digital recording without having this effect sometimes...and I agree,if they're going to release it on vinyl, why not do an analog job?
If they want a retro sound, they should use retro equipmant...so it's the sound that seems to be the foriegn object, and I'm still getting used to it...

Re: Rockline
I just remember the stupid questions.
Asking Steve and Roger about the California Jam DVD.
And asking if Smoke On The Water was recorded on a pier.

Re: Rockline
Yea...that whole line of questioning was a waste, and I think Ocasek is smarter than that, the encore question was rigged...no doubt,to get Roger to once again tell the same old story...the only thing the dj's and program directors seem to identify Purple with.

On the Total Abandon extras, Steve and Roger is asked in a radio interview about working with Tommy Bolin. Roger get good use of his gentleman abilities when calmly explaining that none of 'em actually worked with Bolin.
