idea for the next album...
Its been mentioned on here that the songs from 'Rapture' have evolved on the road and are better than the album versions. I can't wait to experience this for myself at the Astoria on the 17th of Jan; I love the Album so to hear the songs played live will be fantastic.
As the band have changed the songs around, 'lived with them' and improved them, would it not be possible to make the next album in a similar format to 'In Rock'?
Ian Paice has stated that they already have material, could they not spend some time somewhere to rehearse these songs and maybe include some in performances, then when they go to the studio they will be recording the finished article.

Round of applause for that idea - Gillan's vocals have been produced with distortion and large chunks of it at times - sounds awful to my ears. Roger's production has always been distortion free and albums like Sin After Sin are a case in point - very fresh and clean sound

Machine Head blew me away
In Rock blew my brains out

Re: idea for the next album...
Agreed! I have to be honest and say that I don't like the productionwork on either Banananananananas or ROTD. The vocalsound is indeed awful, and some of the drumwork gets lost in the mix. I can hear that Paice is really working at times, but most of his fills are lost because of Bradfords production. I wonder why they went with him??? Can't they hear it themselves? I think with a real good production the album would've been even greater, in fact much greater, than it is (even if it contains a few really weak songs).
I really like the production on Perfect Strangers and Purpendicular- very fresh, very Purple!
Another idea for the next album would be to bring back a couple of interesing musician.
You know who

I too am not a fan of the production. DP needs a nice raw and gritty sound...Bradford polishes it up too much.

Re: idea for the next album...
Listening to ROTD in the truck stereo tonight,I have to agree with everyone's opinions on the production. The cd would sound much better with a better, punchier drum and bass sound to drive the tunes harder, and I think it would make the cd much more accessable.

Yeah, that's the biggest thing I hate about bananas....having a subwoofer or not, the CD still sounds the same. It's rock and roll, where's the kick ass bass drum!!!

Re: idea for the next album...
Bad production values is not good, and Bradford is missing some on this one, many say the last one as well, but I like the sound on Bananas...and ROTD doesn't have that for me,although I find it to be by far the more progressive album of the two.
