"Accidentally on purpose" is by far the most interesting DP/related output from this period, I think.

Speaking entirely for myself - one of the only "interesting" things about "Accidentally On Purpose" as far as I'm concerned was that it was done by two of the primary members of the Greatest Rock Band of All Time. Quality-wise? Pretty low, in my non-humble opinion. I always had the feeling it was just something that Gillan & Glover did as a whim or something. There's a couple of halfway decent tracks on it,true, but again - the only thing that makes those tracks remarkable in the least is the fact that they're conceived/written/performed by Ian Gillan & Roger Glover.
My feeling is that like quite a few of the "Deep Purple Family" releases, very, very few Deep Purple fans would be interested in the slightest if the work was by anyone other than either a current or former member of Deep Purple.
All of the above is merely my non-humble opinion and not intended to question/deride/denigrate/whatever anyone else who enjoys or their opinion(s) of "Accidentally On Purpose" or some of the other "Deep Purple Family" releases that I personally don't care for all that much. Granted, I have some of the very releases - including "Accidentally On Purpose" - that I'm referring to...but I'll admit that one of the primary reasons is from a 'completist' viewpoint regarding the Deep Purple + Members 'catalogue' of work, not because the material is something that I would've had to acquire based on it's musical merits/quality alone.

I agree that most of AOP was not so good. I do like Telephone Box though. As I recall it got a good amount of airplay. As for low points, HoBL for all. Oddly enough, I still listen to it!

I felt I should point out that despite what I posted earlier in regards to "Accidentally On Purpose", I don't consider it a or the absolute 'low' for the two particular MkII members involved.
One further thought/question - wasn't "Accidentally On Purpose" a 'contract fulfiller' type of thing for Gillan anyway? Perhaps I'll give it another listen someday (it's been a couple of years since I last listened to it) within that context and who knows - maybe my opinion will change to a more positive one.
