I think it's 'much maligned' more so in the context of the current- and 'reunion era'- Deep Purple seeming to have been relying (for lack of a better word) on it for too long than anything else.
My feeling is that if the recordings/performances/dvds/etc.,etc. are from the 1971 - 1973 era, most people are definitely more tolerant (again, for lack of a better word) of the 'MkII' setlist'.
I don't think there're many fans of Deep Purple who wouldn't absolutely love to have just the opportunity to view, let alone own, a filmed version of a full MkII show, circa 1969 - 1973.

Re: what are the chances of a NEW live dvd from the current mark??
Of course I would be very interested to see a mkIIa full show! I do think that a MH anniversary DVD would be good though. The shows were excellent. It was cool to hear Maybe I'm a Leo and Never Before. The backdrop screen was interesting, sort of a time warp thing and then they kick off HS. I never considered the shows would not be filmed or taped or whatever. It would be a shame if they weren't. Maybe a Live and Rare II compilation would be of interest. The best moments from multiple shows or something like that?

True! I just love the Copenhagen '72 dvd, even if it's in b/w. /
