Re: Christopher Cross In Purple??

I don't know a thing about that, but I'd like to thank MrEd for bumping this into my view, interesting and wish I'd have been here to join in this, and I read his comment about that. emoticon
(since this isn't a quoted reply,HIS is in order)

I can say that I do know he wasn't of the jam at the pub with them nature as he drove their limo, and Zepp's too...and I'd like to see Nigel drop in and tell us exactly what time that was around,as it escapes me at the moment...it would help piece together their association,if he stood in for Ritchie in 1970,and to my slightly resembled knowledge emoticon he drove for them in 73-74 (????) then they must've been associated in some other capacities through the industry or perhaps friendship, and I may just go to the length of getting the story from Cross's web people myself, unless Nigel turns up here and tells us he has the scoop thats actually worth waiting for, even if it's a plug for his book, which by the time we get it,should be worth the wait...

Now another thing, tour dates are obviously a pretty painstaking thing as far as accuracy goes, and I really hope no one argues that with me,as I'm not gonna get into it any further than this. emoticon
All one has to do is read this thread to atleast realize that is the case.
(or the Charlesworth biography, which was supposed to be complete on this)

And these rare occurances aren't as rare as they seem,as we didn't spend every waking our with the band, and the stories of their time together is full of endless things we will never ever know.

One more thing, snakehead mentioned that Gillan said Randy CA played WABMC solo on slide...hhmm...Joerg are you sure it wasn't Child In Time that he said this about?????

I didn't say that:

Referring back to the gig with Randy replacing Blackmore. Gillan said he really loved the way Randy played When a Blind Man Cries so they did it that night. He said Randy played slide guitar on that one.

And yes, he played CIT on slide guitar...

Sorry Joerg...it's very late here. emoticon

Where the heck is Bob(Stargazer1976)these days????

I can't reach him for a trade we set up way way back...he's not an active trader, but he has some very very important stuff, and he collects NOTHING but soundboards and FM's.

Hope he resurfaces, but he hates computers.

That ring any bells for anyone?

There are two different versions of this story. I think that Dave Thompson wrote something that Angus mimed during the broadcast. Other sources write (confirmed by Angus) that Angus mimed only at the rehearsal and Blackmore arrived 20 minutes before the actual recording of that David Frost show.

 That sounds about right, SnakeHead.
I knew there was a little extra something to the story as to whether it was 100% accurate or not.
 Thanks for the info.
