This sucks. Dio can't sing anymore. This will only ruin their legend. Ritchie should have called JLT (what happened to the blues project?) or Bonnet or get new blood like Johnny Gioeli or Jorn Lande.
Damn, must have been an imposter I've seen three times in the last few years who sang so well. Good thing you told me, I may have been deceived into thinking Dio still sound awesome.
Oh wait, he did still sound awesome.

IMHO I believe there’s no drummer that could replace the late and great Cozy. However, the second best choice would without doubt be Bobby Rondinelli. Bobby’s still very much a hard hitting and a powerful drummer, very Powell-ish/Bonham-ish. Rainbow needs a powerful drummer.
I saw Bobby Rondinelli with the Lizards yesterday and he sounded nothing more like any drummer of your average amateur garage band.
The drummer of my local DP tribute band puts down a performance 5 times better than him IMO.

Maybe you caught him on a bad day. During the recent Malmo show he played great and the drum solo was pretty interesting.

Re: Rainbow Reunion rumours
Jimmy Bain? I thought he and Dio had a big fallout recently? And Blackmore was never a big fan of Bain. And hasn't Dio and Vinnie had a chilly relationship in recent years? And where the keyboard player. Blackmore in a band without keyboards just doesn't sound right.
I wouldn't put much stock in this rumour.

I saw him a fortnight ago. Nothing more than competant, I'm afraid. Didn't stand out at all.
My first choise would be Tommy Aldridge, who was fantastic last year with Whitesnake.

The drumsolo was okay but not much more, I must admit I was awaiting him to do the really big show with the gong, cleaning and polishing it before hitting etc., like he did on Live Between The Eyes.
Though he seemed like the only at least half professional in the band.

The Lizards were a bit pants, huh? Very disappointed in them. Hope Hughes gets some better support next time.

Re: Rainbow Reunion rumours
I thought they were a bit like Mostly Autmn. There were very few really short parts that were really, really good but overall they bored me to tears.

Re: Rainbow Reunion rumours
Funny that I seem to recall posting a thread on this forum about how far Bobby Rondelli had sunk given that he was with the Lizards who I said at the time were just complete sh1te. Now people here have been to see them and found that they are complete sh1te.................!!! Ah well there you go......... still nice to be right now and then!!
I think a reunion would prove nothing less than a BIG disappointment all round and personally think they'd be best to leave the past in the past where it actually belongs.
