I express my own opinion and I am trying to defend it as well as I can, and I guess that is what the forum is all about - about exchanging views and defending them, agreeing or disagreeing.

I fully support this approach. What you write on this forum is of course your opinion - even if you quote someone it's still your opinion that this particular quote is relevant.

As far as I've seen, you have hardly offended anyone.

I certainly hope I'll find "Rapture Of The Deep" to be the masterpiece you claim it is. But I'll like to remind you and everyone participating in discussing it that the album ain't out in the stores yet.
Hold your horses a little bit, ey? emoticon

Re: Bad Way of doing Studio Recordings?

Just to add to this digression a bit, I've always found that one of the - if not the - best piece of advice concerning debate/argument/whatever technique I've ever seen expressed on this & the old forum was expressed by our own Rahul. The gist was "...while disagreeing with someone's opinion (of just about anything) it's probably far better to simply put forward the reason(s) why you yourself have the opposite opinion(s) of whatever it is you're discussing as opposed to attacking the other person's or people's opinion(s) or whatever their criteria/reasoning/whatever was for forming their opinion(s). It should pretty much go without saying that attacking the person on a personal level with insults, derogatory references to their age, education, socio/economic status, etc.,etc. hardly reinforces one's own opinion. Browbeating very rarely gets anyone to change/re-think/alter/whatever their opinion about anything; if anything, with certain types of personalities, it merely strengthens the other person's resolve to not alter their opinion in the least. " (That's all paraphrased, not verbatim, of course)
And no - that's not to imply that anyone here has done any such thing, so hopefully no one is going to interpret that as any type of rebuke/admonition/whatever - that's definitely not the intention. The intention is to merely pass it along to anyone who never read it or to simply remind others who may have read it (not that I think they need reminding, either) .

My part of this digression is now over.

(Gad, I hate spelling errors! emoticon )

I think most of us do that, any occasional once in a while. Some more often than others, though! emoticon / emoticon

emoticon Just one more tiny digression regarding what I previously posted - none of that was to imply that I myself have always successfully practiced what Rahul once put forth. I try, but I can't honestly claim anywhere close to a 100% success rate at it. Perhaps a 65 - 80% rate, at best. emoticon
