Ex-BLACK SABBATH Singer TONY MARTIN Fired From M3 - Apr. 20, 2004
Former BLACK SABBATH frontman Tony Martin has been fired from M3, the "classic WHITESNAKE" tribute group featuring Bernie Marsden (guitar, ex-WHITESNAKE), Micky Moody (guitar, ex-WHITESNAKE), Neil Murray (ex-WHITESNAKE, BLACK SABBATH), Jimmy Copley (drums, ex-PAUL RODGERS, GILLAN, BECK), and Mark Stanway (keyboards, ex-MAGNUM). An official statement from Tony on the matter is expected soon.
In other news, Tony will sing on the new PHENOMENA album which will be released later this year. So far he has recorded three songs, but the final track list is yet to be decided on, according to a posting on his official web site.
As previously reported, Martin will be one of three featured singers at an upcoming show about rock music of the '70s and '80s. Dubbed "A Whole Lotta Metal", the show will hit the road in the U.K. in May for a minimum of 25 dates and will feature music from such bands as SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN and JUDAS PRIEST. Tony will reportedly be singing at various points during the performance and will be tackling such classics as "Headless Cross" (SABBATH), "Breakin' The Law" (PRIEST), "Fool For Your Lovin'" (WHITESNAKE), "Stormbringer" (DEEP PURPLE) and "Paranoid" (SABBATH).

Re: Tony Martin Sacked from M3
I saw this coming when Tony posted something on his site about how unprofessional the band's booking approach to shows was a few months ago... No disrespect to Marsden and co but sacking singers once a year is not doing them or their cause any favours.

Re: Tony Martin Sacked from M3
Just checked Tony's site, by the way they have started putting his solo album on there again starting once more from the first few tracks. For the people who don't have it this is well worth checking out!

Re: Tony Martin Sacked from M3
Just seen the dates over at http://www.classicwhitesnake.com/
Someone has written in the guest book about the Tony Martin sacking, asking for a reply. I think it is pretty poor advertising shows if they don't have a singer or if you are buying a ticket expecting TM as vocalist.
Lets hope Bernie doesn't take over vocal duties.....IMO a decent singer, no more, no less.

Re: Tony Martin Sacked from M3
Sadly it is moves like these (sacking Tony Martin who IMO did a great job so far) that earn them the 'Whitesnake tribute band' moniker. Bit of a shame really as they have the talent to do so much more if they kept a bit of stability in this (and past) projects...

Re: Tony Martin Sacked from M3
The best singer who worked with the ex-Snakes was Jorn Land, he was the perfect DC replacement. I dislike Tony Martin.

I was taking some Slovenian ladies to the airport in LA yesterday...one of the albums I played was Lande's Worldchanger....my friend just couldn't get over how much like Coverdale he is. But I say that he is like DC but is a unique and distinct talent anyway.

Re: Tony Martin Sacked from M3
Hmmm, he doesn't sound all that much like Cov on Worldchanger IMHO, although there's definitely elements of that style creeping in there. The two Snakes album Jorn has done are what really gave him the Coverdale-clone name and not undeservedly, the similarity there is scary, although he seems to be slightly growing out of it these days.
