WS Remasters

Anyone knows anything about the WS remasters that are promised?
I'm dying to get "Live in the heart of the city" preferably remastered.

Re: WS Remasters

No news yet.....there's a major gap in my collection because I have none of DC's Snake output after Northwinds and before Saints and Sinners. So I need everything from 78-81, and I really don't want those crappy old CDs.

As I was watching the Whitesnake Super Rock video today, I got to wondering if there was any recent news on the WS remasters?

Any recent news in the last 6 months since this thread was created?

Yes, the Early Years compilation should be out around February featuring remastered tracks from the conception of the band till the Slide It In Days. EMI is probably testing the waters with releases like this one to see if there is any demand for the full back catalogue.

Darn.....I want the whole thing. I do not buy greatest hit compilations from artists I really like. I hate those Gh and box set creations!

Yeah, I agree. The only reason I normally buy greatest hits is if they have previously unavailable tracks (a marketing con) or if I can find them cheap somewhere. Tesco's were selling Whitesnake Greatest hits for £6 a few years ago. It's the American one with tracks from Slide it it, 1897, Slip of the Tongue and a lot of the B sides etc that were not on CD at the time. I also managed to pick up Lovehunter for £5 in a second hand shop the other week - great to hear that again.

I'm not too fond of compilations either but you do have to understand this is a Catch 22 situation, if EMI sees that the best ofs have not sold well enough there is no way on earth they'll put the effort in remastering the back catalogue. A crap situation if you think about it, especially since they're the ones serving out rehashed product to begin with but there you go. If I was David I'd go along with all this but not without making sure there was enough on it to entice the hardcore fans, perhaps a demo or two, a previously unreleased bonus live disc or maybe even a couple of brand new tracks...

Re: WS Remasters

The WS Remasters were due to go ahead last year, and DC wanted to work with (I think) the guy who did the Pink Floyd remastering. But EMI took too much time to agree this, so DC went ahead and used his pro tools studio for the last 2 compilations, and the forthcoming one.
This may be as close as we get to any remastering done by EMI which I think is shocking, as the WS discs must be one of the few bands who have yet to be done.

My copy of Live In The Heart Of The City should arrive tomorrow. If my cd buying history is any indication, this pretty much means that a remaster of same should be out within the next 3 months!
