He hadn't lived in it for many years and donated the proceeds of the sales to Shelter a charity supporting the homeless. Very comendable indeed. "Why not reform the classic Floyd lineup & do a charity show?" he was asked. His reasons were that, he already had plenty of money and wouldn't really miss it. More importantly, why should fans of Pink Floyd, who didn't have his wealth, be forced to shell out loads of cash to support one of his pet charities. Far easier to just donate the money. Not wishing to be too cynical but, once again, a lot of "stars" will have their profile raised by appearing at such a high profile event and are likely to gain a lot more than the people they are supposed to be helping. Yes, the cause is a noble one but spare me Bonio (typo deliberate) and his wailings. Mk2 to reform for such an event - get real guys!nondisclosed_email@example.com (happy hammond)Wed, 15 Jun 2005 14:00:25 +0000 Re: Deep Purple Mk.2 To Reform for LIVE 8?https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p51540,from=rss#post51540https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p51540,from=rss#post51540quote:Milan Fahrnholz wrote: DP Mark 2 reform of course doesn´t make for a headline, "Ritchie Blackmore to rejoin Deep Purple after 12 years" however would make something. In rock circles, yes. For a festival that includes Mariah Carey and Coldplay on the bill, it wouldn't cause much of a ripple amongst the general music-going public. Mind you, there are probably a lot of rock fans who will just raise their eyebrows and think 'Not again. That band always change their members. Sort it out!' nondisclosed_email@example.com (Rahul)Tue, 14 Jun 2005 22:39:05 +0000 Re: Deep Purple Mk.2 To Reform for LIVE 8?https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p51539,from=rss#post51539https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p51539,from=rss#post51539quote:Rahul wrote: The majority of people going to the festival probably wouldn't care. Should be a laugh anyway. So what time are Pink Floyd on then?" You got to take into account that someone would mention the apperance of Jon Lord and that the name Ritchie Blackmore connected the bands name by the word rejoining would also play a part. DP Mark 2 reform of course doesn´t make for a headline, "Ritchie Blackmore to rejoin Deep Purple after 12 years" however would make something.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Milan Fahrnholz)Tue, 14 Jun 2005 22:25:38 +0000 Re: Deep Purple Mk.2 To Reform for LIVE 8?https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p51538,from=rss#post51538https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p51538,from=rss#post51538The majority of people going to the festival probably wouldn't care. Keep the rumors circulating and post it often and elsewhere and ya never know what might happen!  I've already printed posters for a MK-IV reunion at Farmers Daughter Aid 2005. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Ritchies Strat)Tue, 14 Jun 2005 03:41:05 +0000 Deep Purple Mk.2 To Reform for LIVE 8?https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p51533,from=rss#post51533https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p51533,from=rss#post51533Hell, the rumor mill worked for Pink Floyd fans!
