Re: Is this due to copy protection??
Copy protected discs are very unreliable. They can play good in 4 players in the house, but the 5th refuses to play it or just give you skips or hiccups.
I have a couple of these and it's always another player who won't play it.
( I have a copy of Jethro Tull's "Stormwatch" (remastered) which is only fully playable in the car for some reason)
of course the copy protection doesn't prevent the disc from being copied as the most popular programs will import the tracks as they are with no tweaking needed.
(and for the rare exception there are always simple ways to get around the problem)
All they seem to do is to make playback as hard as possible.
EMI has some feedback section where you can report any issues you have with the discs...(of course you don't hear from them again and nothing happens)
So it seems they are aware of the problems but won't do anything about it. This is what I call a FRAUD. but they get away with it.

Unrealiable (at times poor sounding) has been my experience as well.
Here is a link to a website that has some info on the EMI Copy Control. Pay attention to the big red "Copy Control" logo. I think Ian Gillan would share there sentiments, perhaps for different reasons.
