Classic Rock “Buyer’s Guide” for Deep Purple

The two page spread of “Must-haves, Should-haves and Forget Its” from a Rock legend’s back catalogue. It would be fun to predict their choices. The only thing I’m not sure about is, do they include live albums or just the studio ones. So tentatively, here is my predictions for our beloved band.

Essential (The Classics - 2 choices)
Machine Head
Burn

Superior (The albums that sealed their reputation - 3 choices)
In Rock
Fireball
Perfect Strangers

Good (Worth exploring - 2 choices)
Come Taste The Band
Purpendicular

Avoid (Runt of the liter - 1 choice)
Slaves And Masters

The Rest (Not Forgetting… - usually 4 or 5 albums & a collection)
The Early Years
Who Do We Think We Are?
Stormbringer
House Of Blue Light
Bananas
Listen, Learn, Read On

Dream On (One we’d like released)
A remix collection of the re-union era

I cant remember live albums being nominated in this section,
so Ormandy probably did the right thing in leaving them out.

If i was sitting down with a blank screen to answer this one
then my ideas may have been slightly different but
i can't find a fault with any of the choices made by
Ormandy, though given the notoriously differing views of
purple fans, there will be a lot of different ideas.

It should be remembered that this is not a favourites "type"
list but it is done to show a broad idea of a bands history,
aimed more at a non fan who may be tempted to have a look
at a bands music but don't know where to start.

Great choices Ormandy, i can see that in print already!
