It's solo. Not Sabbath

Sounds like a standard Dio album. A couple of decent tracks, a couple of awful numbers and no real surprises.

That's what I thought when I heard them, it sounds like standard Dio from the last couple albums. Nothing wrong with that, I have Magica and Killing The Dragon and like them both, but clearly Dio is breaking no new ground here. I will probably by it when it comes out.

Ok It's great which album is it on, I'd like to hear more from that to see if Rock N Roll Children was a flash in the pan or part of a series of good songs. I really did like RnRC it was well good.

Rock´n´Roll Children was one of few highlights on Sacred Heart(along with the title track, King Of Rock´n´Roll and Hungry for Heaven...).

Am very surprised you don't like Holy Diver...It was really his best solo effort, the most like Sabbath and it's the one I would like to own again on CD. I agree these clips seem to be like the Dragon album, the first song starts off great, but then it just gets disappointing. It's funny the sound clips on some of the songs run together and it just sounds like the same song. I would still like to hear more, but I would probably download it before I buy it. I downloaded both Magica and Dragon, Magica was just unlistenable, (I've never listened to it again) and Dragon was ok but even that I haven't really bothered to listen to again. Some artists I really believe in and will buy anything but Dio I can't see myself taking the chance on wasting my money, especially if I'm going to hate it and never listen to it again.

As I've also said many times before, and what BTN is saying now, most of Dios stuff from the 90's onward has been your basic generic metal full of flash guitar histrionics and without any substance.
I did like Holy Diver though and thought that was strong throughout, but it's been downhill since. Unfortunately the playing of Campbell was just more of the Randy Rhoads rubbish. LIL had a couple of good tunes as well as the next lp after that, then it all starts sounding the same. He's still the best singer around but he needs people who can construct good RnR tunes behind his lyrics and give him something to SING over rather than growl. His voice it too good to be wasting it on generic metal crap.
Craig Goldy is a decent guitarist, but lacks the compositional skills to write a good riff based tune.

I think this is actually a fairly decent Dio album, with a few standout tracks. The Eyes is a classic.

I love The Eyes. I think it sounds better live compared to the sound clips I have heard from the studio version though.

I'm trying hard to resist the temptation of checking out these MP3s! If they are 30% as good as Hoy Diver then we got a solid Dio album here. Though it looks like it's typical modern Dio - good but far from brilliant. Hope I'm wrong!

You should check them out it'll save you the cost of buying the CD!

Actually, no matter how bad the abum is I'm buying it anyway -it's a Dio album and I'm a !@#$ completist when it comes to Purple family! I just don't want to spoil the pleasure of listening to the new record for the first time on a good Hi Fi.
