Re: Once In a Million Video Link

But back to the main topic. I of course like many of BN´s music. I also like a lot of classical music. There´s a lot I like.

The problem that I have about some BN songs and especially OIAMY, is that it is neither classical nor renaissance or similar. It´s just a cover version of a german pop/Schlager tune with english text.

No matter what age, you just can´t like it(at least in the german version) and I just can´t get over BN making music like this.

Still there´s a lot about that new music I like. What I don´t like is it´s tendency to be a bit samey.

BTW: My dad would subscribe to all I´ve said above. He´s in his mid 50s.

I do however find it strange how anyone my age that has seen ritchie since 1975 can be surprised or DISSAPOINTED in what he is doing now.

Of course you can be disappointed with BN even if you've known since 1975-76 that Ritchie loves this type of music. Ritchie has many different sides, and that's a reason why so many love him.
Not everybody will like everything he does. Many people just love one or two sides of him. Personally I prefer to hear him play electric guitar, because that's where he stands out. He has a tone like no one else.

Personally I thought BN started off as something fresh, but after 7 years of the same formula I think it's time that Ritchie either retires for real or moves on to something else...

I think the music sounds very safe, Ritchie is not challenging himself -and that is something that Ritchie really must do. He is a very competitive person.
and his best work was created when he had others to compete with, others that pushed him to do better and better. But for decades he has been in total control. there's no room for a creative challenge. All around him is people who just smiles and nods.

Much of the BN stuff is poorly produced -there are eurodisco loops and all kinds of cheesy sounds. I will bash him for that when I hear it, because I don't like that sound, even if he puts his signature licks all over it.
Some of the stuff is amazing and some of the stuff is pure drivel.

Well nice to see you're off to a good start Faz2000, you'll be popular here, although perhaps only briefly I suspect! TO be really honest some of what you say about Ritchie playing the same stuff as before is completely true, however everyone here has heard it all before, that is Ritchie's playing and everything you're saying, trying reading first posting 2nd. So overall your not looking too clever, really, in fact perhaps a little moronic.

To impolite but honest on reflection I couldn't give a monkeys what your views are it's just the same sh1t different day.

Seven years becomes stale? But doing albums with DP MKII forever isnt? I have never seen Ritchie have seven years of fun with anyone he's played with, until the last 7 years. Lets face it, he was excited for IN ROCK. He got excited for Machine Head. Then was VERY excited with Burn and then with Rainbow the first two records he was very excited again. you can tell by his playing on thoses records and his attitude at the time.

The music now has been a passion of his for years, He has mastered the accoustic guitar, which i have to admit 7 years ago i wouldnt have thought he could play it this well. But he shocked me!!

It's great to go sit down and watch him play all night. No on is screaming or standing all night. we love to LISTEN to him play all night.

Then why do you respond to me if thou does not care what I say? Keep thee thoughts to thou self.

Sir Ritchie is still amazing, that is all that i am saying. I have many friends that are tiresome with his new music, but they do not bash it.

7 years is an eternity in the music world. Most bands survive only 2-3 years if they're lucky.
Throughout the Blackmore history there are phases of 5 years or so where he does one thing and then changes style.

With DP or Rainbow he explored many different areas, but with BN there is not so much variation.

The bottom line is, he is playing great accoustic guitar. He still puts on his strat for about 30 minutes a night and plays great!! His records have evrything from ballads to uptempo pop stuff to rock songs such as rainbow blues. what else do u want?

I want to hear some experimentation.
I don't want to hear the same runs played over and over.

I don't know about you, but Ritchie's playing from 1984 to 1997 has been mostly same runs. As great as those runs are, they are alot a like.
