Once In a Million Video Link

Well SPV have put up a video for that amazing smash hit "Once In a Million Years". It's a good laugh, even features Ritchie hitting someome with his acoustic guitar at the end of it, he's as frustrated as the rest of us with this drivel. The music is as sickly sweet as ever, although Ritchie plays well as you'd expect, the lyrics are vomittous, but over all it's a good laugh and worth a watch. For all the collectors it's a MUST have item. If you like Candice Knight's appearance then this is for you !

And I thought the live version was bad, pure unadulterated Audio Nytol.

That had me squirming impatiently and just wanting it to finish, a bit like an extensive church service you've been forced to attend against your will.

Ha ha ha excellent stuff( zzzzzz! ) and I thought maybe I was the only one! Still the quality for a download is good, even at full screen size, just a pity the content is ...... what it is ! Still it will have it's supporters no doubt and good luck to them. Did you find the Pitz Strings as tedious on the ear as I did ? This seems to be becoming a feature in the BN songs, almost a trademark.

Oh god, they're awful, they sound like a 5 or 6 second sample being looped and make what was merely a dull song annoying. It's the musical equivalent of someone sitting behind you and periodically proding you on the back of the neck.

I don't quite have the stomach to go back an watch it again but the all the guitar work sounds like (very minor)variations on the same lick to me.

What an apt description! The guitar work as ever is nice minor scale Ritchie stuff, but it's as you say and has probably occurred in almost every BN song that's acoustic based. The really problem with this style of music is it must be hard to play something different, because that same lick fits it all so well, becuase so many of the tunes are coming from the same phrasing and general layout. I played the Xmas songs to a friend who as soon as it started said "I've heard that intro several times before on other tracks by BN" after there followed many things said, toooooo unpleasant to write here, lest it should offend the sensitive !

That´s funny, the song is more than as horrible as a remember it!

But great to see Ritchie´s "acting talents" again. It´s been a time since Death Alley Driver...but that hit is dead on. Quite like on Cal Jam...I wonder just wonder why he hit his roadie? I thought that was always that guy in the black cloak?emoticon

AT the start the guy getting on the horse is wearing Ritchie's boots, or very similar, perhaps the cloaked horse rider is Ritchie, or maybe it's a stunt double, given that all that sword fighting and horse riding looks extremely dangerous!

In fact Ritchie should get a stunt double for all the live gigs......it must be really dangerous to his health listening to Candice wailing on a bi-nightly basis at these gigs and having to play pap like "Once in a Yillion". No wonder Ritchie's lost the plot.

I didn't know the song ... and I really can't believe someone can like it. Certainly one of the most boring BN's one and I am often indulgent

I wonder which wood his guitar is made of, because it's not broken !! Ritchie is really becoming old because there was a time his guitar would have been broken in pieces ...

are you people children??? You would think after listening to years of the musicianship of Deep Purple you would listen to music other than rock n roll. Perhaps some classical or the music that Ritchie is doing... when reading you thoughts on Blackmore's Night,it sounds exactly like my old schollmates talking about Blackmore's Rainbow in 1975-76. Which by the way is basically a heavy version of what ritchie is doing now. I find it well more entertaining then watching steve morse and don airey play cover songs...
