Re: VH1 40 Worst Metal Songs
Most of the ridicule does come from the videos from that era. I remember the video for Death Alley Driver with RB in a cloak and top hat riding in a hearse or something. The cheesy videos made even the coolest rock stars look silly.

A lot of that metal was bad, and if it wasn't bad, it was sung by people who looked quite silly anyway!
It's just a bit of fun, and they couldn't pick any crappy obscure metal songs to be the worst. Where's the fun in that?
Doesn't matter what ends up in a poll. There will be plenty of people who disagree!
C'mon, Rahul, that was the 80's - everyone looked silly back then (except for Elvis Costello of course who always looks smart! )

I dont remember if it was the 40 worst metal songs or 40 worst Metal Moments, it is the show where the guy from Twisted Sister is narrating....one of the moments is that orchestras should never be mixed with metal and they give due credit to DP back in 69 who started it all ( finally!!), also showing some of the concerto footage with Ian Paice....though I think GNR takes away the category with November Rain.....
The Dee Snider show with the Orchestras was 40 least metal moments. The other one was with Riki Rachtman and was 40 worst metal songs.

Re: VH1 40 Worst Metal Songs
I don't understand VH1's venomous remarks about Europe. Why do they hate them more than any other hair band? They seem to pop up on all their worst/cheesiest lists. I think Nelson, for example, are a much worse take on hair/glam metal.
Keyboards don't belong in metal?? Yeah, right.

Re: VH1 40 Worst Metal Songs
It was a stupid bloody way to compile a list of the worst "Metal" songs. If the song wasn't meant to be "Metal", then it should not have made the list. Just because a song by a metal artist happens to cross the line into ballad territory doesn't make it a bad metal song because it isn't metal. If you were to go by the way the tunes were picked, then Black Sabbaths Fluff from Sabbath Bloody would be the worst metal song and Blackmores Night would fill out the rest.

Re: VH1 40 Worst Metal Songs
Death Alley Driver is a super cool video, and all the critics like Elvis Costello...cos all the critics look like Elvis Costello.
(not that theres anything wrong with EC,except of course, the way he looks)

Re: VH1 40 Worst Metal Songs
What a terrible show. I couldn't give a !@#$ what those "critics'" opinions are. They were certainly seeking the attention and trying to be "witty". Pffft.
True, a lot of those songs are really bad, but I'd vote the show to be worse than anything they were criticizing.
Now why did I even watch that show?
