VH1 40 Worst Metal Songs
Just saw this last night. No Purple tunes on the list, but Whitesnakes 1987 version of "Here I Go Again" came in at number 15. Dio's "The Last in Line" also made the list. The number 1 worst song was Europe's "The Final Countdown". One reviewer stated that "Keyboards should be outlawed in heavy Metal Bands".

I saw this too, and was very surprised to see Hear N Aid's "Stars" on the list - espeically since it was #1 on VH1's 100 Most Metal Moments.
It was also nice to see Scott Ian from Anthrax defending Whitesnake.

Re: VH1 40 Worst Metal Songs
Yes there were actually three tunes that made no sense on that list:
Last in Line
Here I Go Again
and Balls to the Wall....
But really most of this show was spent making fun of lyrics....alot of the songs were good songs. Winger's 17 is a great song, (just sit down and try to play that guitar riff) but the lyrics open it up to ridicule. And just because Michael Bolton co wrote Kiss's Forever ( a great power ballad) was enough to get it on the list.

I must say Scott Ian's sarcastic wit cracked me up. He's a funny dude.

The Last in Line is Dio's greatest solo song ever. How did this make the list?
Can't argue with the 1987 version of Here I Go Again.

Re: VH1 40 Worst Metal Songs
These people just don't like metal - simple as that. Funny that most of the tunes are classics! I mean,Balls to the !@#$ wall, people! This one is timeless...

Re: VH1 40 Worst Metal Songs
Balls to the Wall is a third rate AC/DC song. Here I Go Again makes sense as it pales in comparison to the original. I like Last in Line, so I'd disagree with that.

Third rate AC/DC song? Have you actualy listened to any of Accept records? Not only Balls to the wall tops ANY song AC/DC ever did (and don't get me wrong, I like AC/DC) but it doesn't even sound anything like DC! Accept were always much more metal (having a huge Priest influence but always a face of it's own and a unique teutonic style) with lots of classical influence and traditional german sing a long choruses.
Here I go again'87 is sure a very cheesy remake but still as far from "the worst" category as it gets.
Last in Line is a classic,no doubt about it. But if we were speaking of the cheesiest videos...

Re: VH1 40 Worst Metal Songs
I only speak for the song Balls to the Wall, because that's all I've heard from the band, maybe one other. But that song is very much like an AC/DC one, especially the chorus and that part where they chant "balls to the wall..."
