Interesting Blackmore interview in Finnish newspaper...

Well, actually it's quite boring, but it has some very interesting quotes.
It on Ilta-Sanoma's (Finland's biggest newspaper) weekly Plussa appendix (http://www.iltasanomat.fi/plussa/).

One thing that was a surprise to me was that Ritchie has a painful gout sometimes and he was full medicines during the interview. He says so himself.
Mostly it's what you have heard yourself before, the things about BN and how Ritchie has listened to renessaince music fro 30 years and so on. And about Ritchie's fondness to German football.

BUT, there was a very interesting quote from Ritchie. I don't know if he did it by purpose or if it just slipped from him.
He said like this (roughly translated from Finnish):

"I have been offered money for the return of both, but luckily I have managed to save enough money so I don't have to assemble either one of the bands. It's good because I'm not interested to play in both of those. I'm bored to them both."

And what bands does he mean. Oh yes, Rainbow and Deep Purple. emoticon

And why not? His rainbow-days are gone, the same for Purple days. And I think he mentioned "a vaguely possibility" to reform Rainbow new to not disappoint any fans from then. Not more, not less.

Is lying to the long time and faithful fan base a good way not to dissapoint them?

I don´t belive that, must have been one of his less funny jokes.

Just leave his personally decisions up to him. Neiter you accept his personality as given, or not.

No, that´s not what I meant. I mean, as you put it, to pretend he could reform Rainbow one day to "satisfy" the fans, isn´t there something wrong about that?

I accept Blackmore´s doings as I accept Purple´s doings, that doesn´t mean I have to like them.

I mean: All he said was: "EVENTUALLY" in a few years, maybe.

What I found weird about the interview was that Blackmore was talking about being offered money for putting together BOTH of the bands as if there is no DP at all.

If that's true, so it's really weird.

Thanks Niko, I have to check that out.

Strange timing with the interview as the band was here in June and one could think that the interview was done then.

I haven't seen the interview yet but it could be that RB is referring to the DP reunion and then Rainbow's reincarnation of 1994 and perhaps later the latter has been offered again. But I find it hard to believe that there would have been plans for another DP as there's one already.

Btw The paper in which the interview is in isn't a quality newspaper, it's yellow press.
