Re: What do we want from the new album?

Something similar to U2's HTDAAB (latest)an album full of really great songs, well written and well constructed.... doesn't have to have solos if they don't fit anyway...

Nice comparison :-)

Deep Purple needs to have solos, instrumental parts/jams, because that's what made them to what they are!

I see only one chance for them to retrieve the status of one of the best rock bands ever. Album that woulnd't be a collection of songs but an album where the songs would be a basis for inspired instrumental jams. Well constructed, well arranged, with more experimentation. I hate the feeling they could record another Razzle Dazzle or Doing It Tonight. DP, please, give us some more thrilling musical experiences! I've just finished listening to the Scandinavian Nights version of Mandrake Roots. Wow, it doesn't get any old. It's powerfull and full of great musicianship... those were the days...

does anyone honestly think DP will ever again produce a classic album?I think were kidding ourselves here DPs creative juices have long since dried up ok Purpendicular was a brilliant album and a real surprise but that was over 10 years ago!Lets be honest here purple these days produce good solid music but nothing really groundbreaking lets just enjoy them while they are still going. If I were to be honest what i would really like from the next album is the return of Jon and Ritchie for one last album and tour and wind it all up.

Yes, it's a bit sad but I agree, at least to some extent. Of course it's impossible, but that would be a good thing to do. One, last classic Mk2 album, farewell tour and that's it. A so called "happy end".

Yeah, that is accually a good idea. The sadest possible thing is if Purple eventually are reduced to a nostalgia like Whitesnake, who just play oldies. Then it's better to do one last MkII studio album and tour, and then call it a day.

A good production. emoticon Listen to Abandon, most of it sounds like the album was recorded in the mud. emoticon

I think they've still got what it takes to make a "classic". Easily.

A classic would be bold and fearless. While I liked Bananas (and still do, very much), a tight rocker, nice and raunchy is in order, I think.

They are older, and a "return to their glory" would be nostalgic. They've done all that stuff, and the fact of the matter is that this is 2005, not 1975; monster riffs and glass-shattering screams were played out 15 years ago. Besides, don't we want a band to grow, and not repeat itself endlessly?

That doesn't mean they can't explore new ways of pushing the limits thoughemoticon I wouldn't mind some weirder production so long as it's driven by the music.
