Yes, Mark VIII is accepted as a tribute band. With very little news to deliver, and living on ancient success. And that´s why Lord left. The health issue is nothing but legal sh1t and improper management.
If they are a tribute band (in your own words) why do you: 1) attend their concerts, 2) spend your time on a fan forum discussing them and 3) buy their cds/dvds? Sounds kinda weird to me.
1) I don´t, and haven´t since 2002.
2) I happen to like a few people here.
3) I don´t.

I am fully aware of the official explanation to why Jon Lord left. And how Airey was tested out in public, before Jon Lord definitely decided to leave. It had been Lord´s wish to leave for at least a few years before the final descision. Jon Lord has said more than once after Morse joined, that if DP turned out to be a festival circus act, living of the past, then he´d call it the quits. They became that circus act, and Lord left, any medical reason is stated due to contractual issues, and you can always buy a doctor to state what is most benificial to you. Management even kept on booking shows, when they were fully aware of the desires of Lord to leave.

I agree, reunion album or tour won't ever happen, I think we can safely write that off but a one-off thing is still possible. Y'know, the dream event with all past DPs. One or a couple of nights at Albert Hall, why not. If Cream can do it. In many ways, a such undertaking is immensely more important than doing the Concerto in 1999. I know, it'd take a hell of a lot of planning but wonders never cease.
