Blackmore's Night - "Once Upon December" (Official Lyric Video) - New Album coming March 12th, 2021

Blackmore's Night release brand-new song & video "ONCE UPON DECEMBER", the first single taken from the new studio album "NATURE'S LIGHT", out MARCH 12TH, 2021.

On March 12th, 2021, Blackmore’s Night will release “Nature’s Light”, their eleventh studio album and the first in six years.
Today, the band, founded 1997 by award-winning vocalist Candice Night and legendary guitar icon Ritchie Blackmore, reveal the first single and music video ‘Once Upon December’, a remarkable song and foretaste of the highly anticipated new album.

The ten new tracks make for a remarkable new record – one that could only have been written by Candice Night and Ritchie Blackmore. Once again, the duo is successfully mixing the tradition of Folk music and the love for the Renaissance era with their style, inspired by the myths and legends of ancient times.

“The story of “Nature’s Light” is the story of nature being the true queen and the simplicity and magic of everyday miracles that happen right before your eyes”, says Candice Night. “If you feel stagnant or repressed in your surroundings, it is important to take a break from the mundane and go where your heart leads you. It allows you to recharge and begin again with fresh and renewed energy. For some it is the ocean, for some the woods, for some feeling the sun on your face. Our music is an escape from the stress and pressure of modern times. Journey back through time with us, to a simpler, magical time where music enters your heart and soul.”

Transcend time with Blackmore's Night to a world with no stress, just the beauty of nature, and fairy tales, sunsets and moonlit skies. Welcome to the Blackmore's Night family. Immerse yourself in their ethereal music.

While the album is rooted in a traditional approach, fans of Ritchie Blackmore’s unique style will once again not be disappointed. Heartfelt ballads such as a brand-new version of ‘Wish You Were Here’ set the scene for magical tales on ‘Four Winds’ and ‘The Twisted Oak’. For the two instrumental tracks - ‘Darker Shade Of Black’ and ‘Der letzte Musketier’ – Ritchie shows that his brilliance on the guitar is still magic as it always was.

On March 12th,2021, the band’s new studio album “Nature’s Light” will be released on multiple formats on earMUSIC. Among these is a Strictly Limited 2CD Hardcover Mediabook Edition including a bonus CD featuring a carefully selected set of Blackmore’s Night’s masterpieces from their extensive back catalogue. Furthermore, the album will become available as a CD Digipak Edition, a Strictly Limited Heavyweight 1LP Gatefold Edition on Yellow Vinyl, a 180g 1LP Gatefold Edition on Black Vinyl as well as Digital.

Now it would be true to say that BN have released some great material and some bloody awful material.
That particular track falls in to the latter emoticon
Does anybody really actually want to hear any more BN releases?
Personally i would rather go to the dentist

Ghost of a Rose was the last BN Album I could listen to from beginning to end. It had some great songs on it. After that, the Albums started to sound the same with one, maybe two good songs on each album.

I can agree here, somewhat. I only have a couple of BN albums, but I enjoy listening to some of the tunes on YouTube. Blackers seems happy and it really suits his ability now days with his arthritis. I only wish that he had given this kind of effort for Rainbow and buckled down and rehearsed big time. Some NSAID's and some extra practice would have done the trick. There were some flashes of brilliance here and there and with more time, it would have been better.

Either way, this is what we have these days. At least he is still playing, so there is something positive. emoticon

Much the same for me doggone although i will say that Candice has grown as a singer over the years ,sadly Ritchies playing has became less inspired over the same period.

I care less and less about Candice. In the early days she still had some innocent like quality to her voice that suited the material well. These days she sings in a lower register...but there is something with her phrasing that I find more and more annoying.. Ritchie is clearly not as inspired as he was earlier, but the biggest flaw is the production. It's flat and unexciting as usual. It would be interesting to hear what Ritchie could do with this kind of material without Candice and a different producer.

According to the write-up, this will be the best album Blackers has ever done. Enough sap there to make a years worth of maple syrup. emoticon We'll see.

i think she's hugely improved vocally but yes i get what your saying about her phrasing at times.
Would be interesting to see Ritchie do this kinda stuff with the likes of Ian Anderson of Tull i suppose ?but in all honesty ive heard enough of this type of stuff to do me emoticon

The first BN record from the late 90s wasn’t half bad, but I wish they would’ve left it at that since the rest is crap.
