Rapture of the Deep: 15th Anniversary
Next month is really the 15th anniversary. This album is good in my opinion. This is the period I think that their record label dropped them, first time in history, the lost confidence to make another album until Bob Ezrin produced their follow up.
My heart tells me this is also a perfect 10! 😁
The vinyl version of this cost me a lot, so this album deserves a vinyl reissue, because it's too expensive!!! What the what!!!
What do you think about this album? Sound quality? You want remaster, remix reissue?

Re: Rapture of the Deep: 15th Anniversary
My least favorite Deep Purple album. The production is weak and most of the songs are plodding and boring. Nothing fresh at all about it. I almost thought it was the end with that one, but thankfully the three that followed are much better.

Re: Rapture of the Deep: 15th Anniversary
After Stormbringer, my least favorite DP album. I would still buy a remixed/remastered version.

Re:
Probably my favorite tune from those sessions would be "Things I Never Said." It sure came together as the tour progressed.
I'll pick eight that never fail me. LP style...
Side 1
1. "Money Talks" 5:31
2. "Wrong Man" 4:53
3. "Rapture of the Deep" 5:58
4. "Clearly Quite Absurd" 5:25
Side 2
5. "Back to Back" 4:03
6. "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" 4:18
7. "Junkyard Blues" 5:32
8. "Before Time Began" 6:30
Good album for being a bunch of slick demos.

Your version is definitely an improvement. It's amazing how much difference can be made by removing "MTV" and ""Girls Like That", which rank along with "One Man's Meat" as my least favorite songs by the band. I like "Things I Never Said" as well. It should have made the album.

Re:
I think Now What! is a masterpiece. And when it'a about other 21th century albums, including Raptures, I found them nothing more than interesting improvisations in the backyard garage, done by very good musicians.

Re: Rapture of the Deep: 15th Anniversary
I think that Rapture, along with Bananas and Purpendicular are the best of the MK Morse era. Some may crack on Rapture's production, but the album is solid. A decent remix is probably all that it needs.

Re:
The album is actually better than I remembered. The title track and Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye rule. Even Back to Back is quite enjoyable.

Re:
One of the weakest DP albums for me. I would say Girls Like That and MTV are the low point of Purples output, rubbish song's but embarrassing lyrics.

Well one thing you can't say about Gillan's lyrics is that they aren't any good. Always a very good part of their albums is the lyrics.
