Purpendicular 25th Anniversary
Next February is the 25th anniversary of Purpendicular, an album which i think is maybe the best MK Morse release. I wonder if there is anything left from that period that hasn't been released?

Re: Purpendicular 25th Anniversary
Surely one the best, most consistent and creative albums of their career - certainly in my top five, hell...top three!

I rate ALL of the Blackmore albums higher and also CTTB
all down to taste i suppose.
I actually prefer Now What,Infinite and Abandon from the Morse era i seldom if ever listen to Purpendicular,it was different and fresh at the time but its not an album i have gone back to very often.

Re: Purpendicular 25th Anniversary
Now What, Infinite and Abandon are excellent. Abandon, along with DP's third album, has to be one of their most under rated albums. A lot of people say that the second half of Abandon sounds the same but I disagree. I think the Abandon/Concerto tour was also the last great Purple Tour. I wish more was released from it. Today's line up is good live but excellent in the studio,

Re: Purpendicular 25th Anniversary
It's six months early.
PURPENDICULAR is still the best Morse-powered album for me.
This album deserves a reissue on vinyl, gatefold. I have the vinyl album, it's like an envelope that you justvput two vinyl record without a divider, unlike WHOOSH! which have two separate pockets for vinyl.
Not a heavy metal, not even hard rock, but it's very very good. It's a pertect 10!

Re: Purpendicular 25th Anniversary
I love Purpendicular. It's a band having fun and enjoying a new found freedom to take their music in different directions.

Re: Purpendicular 25th Anniversary
I enjoy Purpendicular quite a bit. It is still my favorite MK Morse album. I think that Rapture and Bananas are truly better albums, but there is something about Purp that I just totally enjoy. It ranks above NW and Infinite in my mind. I don't know enough about Whoosh to have an opinion on it, but, from what I have heard, I don't rank it up there with the earlier MK Morse albums that I mentioned.

Re: Purpendicular 25th Anniversary
Still enjoy it all the way through 3 or 4 times a year.
Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming still gives me chills when he screams. Beautiful song.
Now What gets the top nod for me, with regards to Morse era entries, but this is a close 2nd.
Not a bad tune on it.
(Live At the Olympia is also a Purpendicular heavy treat that gets a lot of play)
