Slaves and Masters : 30th Anniversary
This month is the 30th anniversary of S&M.
How about a deluxe box set release, containing outtakes, "Fire, Ice and Dynamite", a live album, etc.
It's a Deep Purple album, whether we like it or not.

Re:
Outtakes: have been circulating as bootlegs. Imho nothing really exciting.
Fire, Ice & Dynamite: Ok ... not as bad as Love Conquers All or Too Much Is Not Enough.
Live Album: Yea, would be cool. There are soundboard recordings existing from that tour - Philadelphia, Tel Aviv and afair a show in Brazil.

always really liked that album despite the godawful cringeworthy JLT
it would have been awesome with another singer

Re: Slaves and Masters : 30th Anniversary
I thought JLT did really good on the album but live, he wrecked KAYBD and PS and his between chatter could be embarrassing. Of course I am only going by the 2 Bootlegs I have. I would welcome a live CD and DVD. I wish they would have done Fortuneteller live as it is my favorite song on the album. It would have been nice to see where RB and JL would have taken the song.

Yes he was decent enough on the album ,hes a good singer in his own way, but im not a fan of his voice within DP or Rainbow ,he would be better suited to Journey or some other AOR band, but then thats the direction Blackers wanted i suppose?Just think another singer would have elevated the album from good to excellent ,theres a lot of fine musical ideas on it which dont quite reach their potential.I remember Jon being appalled at what JLT did with LCA!!
I saw DP on this tour in Edinburgh and JLT was cringeworthy, to be honest it wasnt the best gig ive been to, Blackers seemed as if he couldn't be bothered at times, and as you say JLTs patter was awful.Just goes to show that no matter how talented a band is they need a frontman to make a connection with the audience.

I agree 100% that he would have better fitted a group like Journey. He did a great job on Bent Out of Shape.

As it turned out...a perfect album for the times.
Remember, Rock wasn't really too hard or heavy, and the hair spray was outta control.

Thats because Nirvana has yet to release NEVERMIND next year.
For me S&M is a perfect 10.

I like the album very much. I don't like JLT voice, but he did a good job.
