Agree! Actually also the entire afternoon leading up to him getting on stage was pure anticipation and adrenalin, with people from all over the world marching in that gigantic, inclined field of mud leading up to the venue.
I remember going to a small bar in the closest village before being picked up by the buses leading up to the Freilichtbühne and the elder lady at the counter asking why there were so many people around, and someone taking the time to explain it all to her.

When I booked my hotel (via phone), I was asked which concert it was because there were so stunningly many people who were looking for hotels. I told him the story.

And it's alredy four years ago now ... to me it feels like it was last summer ...

The venue, the city itself, the atmosphere, and last but not least the historical significance of it all, made for a magical night.

Already by the solo in Highway Star it was apparent that his chops weren’t great anymore, but imo, that night he looked the part, and for brief moments here and there, he was back.

So glad at least some of the gig is available in pristine quality (as someone who buys concert films regularly, MIR is top notch in terms of production)

The follows night you kind of knew what to expect, add to the fact that RB changed his look back to the farmer outfit (green sleeves from the 16th century indeed..), and overall he seemed less interested than on opening night.

Interesting to read this guys! When I saw him/them at the Olimpiyskiy in Moscow two years later it was maybe not magic, but good enough. Most interesting was being at a concert in this enormous arena/stadium in Europe's biggest city. To see the huge advertising, around the arena, for the upcoming deep purple concert. And last but not least to see the man himself, maybe for the last time..?

Indeed it does. Moscow is for sure as European as Stockholm or Berlin.

from the bootlegs, I think the second gig in Russia is the best one from 2018.
Haven't listened that much to any of the 2019 gigs, but the atmosphere is Spain was very good at least.

But it does seem like RB already by 2018 had lost some interest, and that he's treating it more like a good pay day.
Even though that was a big (maybe the biggest) factor in 2016 too (and 2017), I'm sure a part of him was at least a bit anxious / nervous / excited about plugging in again.
