I'm undecided whether to go to Glasgow or not. I went to the last show in Glasgow on the Long Goodbye Tour and I'd basically come to terms with this being the last time Purple would play in Scotland. With that in mind, I was relatively satisfied that what I thought would be my last Purple show was decent, if not spectacular.

However, a combination of high ticket price, a long drive to Glasgow and back on a Monday night, a support band I've no interest in seeing whatsoever, and concerns about what shape IG's voice will be in by October next year are currently weighing heavily on my decision.

it will surprise no one to hear that i won't be going for reasons that ive already stated far too often.
Although sentimentality niggles away at me saying its the last time ! emoticon
Also i hate package tours and i hate the bloody Hydro!! why not play the Armadillo on their own ??

I quite like the arenas as it is a bigger spectacle. I've seen them at the Astoria (2006) and Manchester Academy (2009 and 2013) - to be honest there is no better atmosphere from the crowd even at the small venues but it is much more exciting to see them in a small place.

The O2 has crystal clear sound for an arena, as does the new one in Leeds. Manchester also not bad acoustically, but the other UK arenas I've been too are hideous - particularly Sheffield.

I will be going as I will for every UK tour until they retire, but the setlist (particularly the encore) needs some serious refreshment.

They've done more to it than I expected they would.
I never thought that they'd drop the bloody boring Contact Lost - Ballad - Well Dressed Guitar part but they did. I didn't expect to see a Purple concert without SKOW, but they dropped it a year ago and replaced it with one of my favorites, Demon's Eye. That means, I'm still optimistic we'll see something different that Keys - PS - ST - SOTW - Hush - BN. They are brave enough to give Woman From Tokyo a rest for 7 years now, they haven't done Speed King in 7 years just like they don't do Fireball or Highway Star all the time. Why not change the classics selection a bit? Space Truckin' is no song they really have to do, Lazy isn't either. Rotate a bit and I'm happy!

But there is one thing I have to say, when I see the setlist they do at the moment, I'm bored to tears while reading it. Still I know that if I went to a concert, I'd like it, because the set and the way it's designed works bloody good. If that wasn't the case, they had changed it long ago. When I'm at a concert, I don't think about the setlist, because I like to hear them play.
