Beatles or Stones
Which group do you like better when it comes to the music they made in the 1960's, the Beatles or Stones with Brian Jones. I always liked the Stones music better. I think their music had a harder edge and Mick did some great vocals. Both bands are great though!

Re: Beatles or Stones
Like both Bands. But Stones have the edge. Have seen Stones live but only one 1/4 of The Beatles. George Harrison with our beloved Purps. Stones is more rock for me.

Re: Beatles or Stones
I'd say The Who.
Forced to choose between the two: Beatles because they are not as rock as the Stones but visionaries. The Who were both. I like that.

Re: Beatles or Stones
Not a huge fan of either, but the Beatles are my choice. They are heavily responsible for the evolution of rock music and one of first bands to show that rock was a credible form of music with the release of RUBBER SOUL.
Both bands leave much to be desired though when it comes to musicianship. The fist band that arrived on the scene that truly matters to me is Cream.

Re:
As most of those comparisons, it's not so simple as the question suggests. Songwriting wise and in the studio, the Beatles were far superior to the Stones for me, but in terms of live performances, the Stones were.

I saw the Stones live about 30 years ago and what struck me was how good Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman were. They were as good a rhythm section as I have ever seen.
