Dropped the family at Sarasota and drove solo to the venue. Compared to the European show I saw them last, in 2017, Gillan was in better shape both vocally and stage presence. In 2017 he exited he stage even during the shortest solos. This time he only did it during the longer solos. Morse did change is way of playing to take care of his hand. Now he packs less notes, but that doesn't detract from the quality. My seat was as shitty as possible, but I managed to record some video as a souvenirnondisclosed_email@example.com (ivo)Mon, 21 Oct 2019 16:03:54 +0000 Re: St Peterburg, Floridahttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p519942,from=rss#post519942https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p519942,from=rss#post519942Highway Star sounds strong, as good as I have heard it done for a long time. nondisclosed_email@example.com (leelyt)Mon, 30 Sep 2019 15:05:45 +0000 Re: St Peterburg, Floridahttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p519940,from=rss#post519940https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p519940,from=rss#post519940Great to read positive reviews! nondisclosed_email@example.com (ptr)Mon, 30 Sep 2019 11:44:58 +0000 St Peterburg, Floridahttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p519939,from=rss#post519939https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p519939,from=rss#post519939The concert was fabulous - thoroughly enjoyed myself!! And I went alone!! I had 2 friends back out then my cousin and then my daughter declined!! So I soldered on by myself!! Venue was fantastic - theater at oceanside!! It was packed and a diverse age group from young kids to some really old people lol!! I guess I was part of middle age at 46!! Opening band was very good! They were a young band maybe each member in their early to mid 20s and were from Southern California. The band was called Joyous Wolf. I actually met them after the show at the merchandise stand. They were signing autographs for fans and this one woman asked me if I could take her pic with the group. I started playing around with her and said I needed $10 to do such an activity. The band heard me say that and liked it and I started chatting with them!!! Bought their CD. It wasn't great and it wasn't bad just nothing on it grabs me. Give it a few more more listens. Anyways great bunch of guys! As for Deep Purple - they were awesome!!!! Had a very enjoyable time there. Band sounded great!! Everyone performed at a high level and the crowd loved it. Was a sell out from where I sat. Songs they played were: Highway Star Pictures of Home Bludsucker Demon's Eye Sometimes I feel Like Screaming Uncommon Man Lazy Time for Bedlam Perfect Strangers Space Trucking Smoke on the Water Hush Black Night A few surprises for me were Demon's Eye, Sometimes I feel Like Screaming and Time for Bedlam!! I wish they would bring in a recording of Ian chanting Time For Bedlam like he does in the beginning and end of cd. Sounds lame speaking like that onstage. That said song was real good live. Biggest surprise for me was Ian Gillan. He sounded very well for a guy his age and I actually thought he sounded better than Joyous Wolf's vocalist!! Great job Ian!!. Steve Morse kicked some serious ass!! I like it when he plays on his old blue guitar like on SIFLS and UM. His solos were really cool and crowd loved it!! I an Paice seems to be slowing down a little but still played good. Had his moments as well. I would go see them again - hope its not last time I have seen them. nondisclosed_email@example.com (nyfan2)Mon, 30 Sep 2019 02:34:13 +0000
