Re: Glenn joining The Dead Daisies?
I'm not particularly excited by this Glenn/Dead Daisies album but have to say this new track is quite fun:

Re:
Very promising! Swagger, a strong hook in the chorus and Glenn singing great as usual.

Re: Glenn joining The Dead Daisies?
meh its pretty standard GH stuff, sounds like it could come from any of Glenns albums over the last 20 years.
The band have no real personality IMHO.
Good players yes, but no real personality to separate them from many other bands, apart from Glenns voice of course .

Re: Glenn joining The Dead Daisies?
I gotta say, i'm really diggin the album more than i expected.
Through about 5 full listens now and i prefer it to Resonate. I'm not sure about this next opinion (i can't even believe i'm contemplating it), but i think it may even be more consistent than the BCC albums ... or at least the last couple. BCC's best tunes trumped (no pun intended) these, but there's less filler here, IMO.

Re: Glenn joining The Dead Daisies?
Fantastic singing by Glenn. He almost sounds stronger than ever and is pushing 70...
Wish the album had some more light and shade though. 1-2 more lighter songs to mix it up more. Doug's distortion and riffing wears you out after a while and the songs end up sounding a bit too similar to eachother. Maybe a production issue.

This is what I fear the most about this new album: It's always heavy, full on, for an hour. All the great classics from the Purple family had diversity as a key word. Resonate was for me a great album because in the second part it deviates from the heavy/groovy "Sabbath with hammond" formula (which of course is great in small doses) and explores more melodic and soulful situations.

If you liked Resonate you will probably dig this. Similar production and heaviness. Resonate also had only one lighter song?

Re: Glenn joining The Dead Daisies?
Had one listen straight through and its an OK album, typical GH really, strong singing but its all a bit samey to my ears ie any track could fit on any GH album over the last 20 years.
The album also suffers a bit from the same problem as recent Whitesnake albums ie its hard to distinguish the individual instruments at times due to the production.
Have to say Glenn plays some mean bass on this one though.
i like the BCC albums better than this, mainly due to the fact that BCC has a guitarist with real personality and the songs are stronger IMHO.

Re: Glenn joining The Dead Daisies?
I'm finally catching up and listening to this recently. My God, what a racket they make! (in a good way!) It's a bit too heavy for my tastes, but you can't deny the energy and intensity of the performances here. Glenn alone lifts the whole album to another level. The production sounds like a million. Probably, what keeps it from being a killer album is the songwriting, which is very good but not great, as others have noted.

Re: Glenn joining The Dead Daisies?
Looking at Hughes' facebook page the Daisies are touring. What surprises me however is that he seems to be flying (and in a typical Hughes' style is showing off) private jets allover the US during the tour. Am I missing something or can a smaller act like the Daisies afford private jets to tour in current era US? If so, I must be in the wrong business.
