Still Dreaming of Yngwie With Deep Purple
I'd prefer the Swedish shredder to work with Dio, but I can't stop imagining the trade offs with Jon Lord that the topic posited union would provoke.
One thing that might unduly unnerve the otherwise estimable posters here: I'd prefer Coverdale/Hughes (both and/or either/or) to be doing the vocals.

Re: Still Dreaming of Yngwie With Deep Purple
It would be a disaster. Malmsteen would be a horrible fit for Deep Purple or Dio.

Re: Still Dreaming of Yngwie With Deep Purple
Malmsteen? God no! Heaven's above!
He'd actually be even worse with Coverdale on vocals. David's heavy blues voice would not sit well with Malmsteen's mindless shredding. Slip of the Tongue 2 probably?
There's a time and a place for Malmsteen's music, and it's not on stage with Deep Purple.
Besides, you'd have to convince Jon Lord to come back to Deep Purple anyway!

THE FAT FOORIOS GUITARERRO SUCKS. PERIOD. Remember, he's dreaming of Candice these days - he knows that when Ritchie dumps 'em they ALWAYS come to him...

Re: Still Dreaming of Yngwie With Deep Purple
I can't imagine any difference between Widdlvie widdlin all over the DP classics or Smiley widdlin all over the classics. Problem with Widdlevie is that, even though he has listed Blackmore as an influence, he still doesn't know how to compose a tune that a good singer can create great, memorable melodies over. He's still in guitar hero widdleworship mode and until he comes out of it I'm afraid there's no hope of him writing a good "band" tune.

Re: Still Dreaming of Yngwie With Deep Purple
I have every Yngwie album and went to his concert last year, so yes I'm a fan, but no way would I want to see this. Just would not work. Purple music does not need endless shredding over everything.

I thought the first Widdlevie lp was good, but by the time I got through the 2nd one, I'd had enough.
Deep Purple and RJD would have flash backs looking over and seeing a guitarist dressed in Black Suede.
The words to Smooth Dancer could be changed around a bit though.
"Black Suede...Just leave....some food for me..
Black Suede...I sense..your hung-gry
I tried..to get...some food before you..
But your fast..and now I ..know what to do
Your a big eater
that's all right
cause I'm a drunk driver
You could never make it when your trying to play it with your mouth full of food" dun duh duh du duuun.
baby you're the one who could never see the sun when your feasting nightly...Don't ya look at me over yer big fat bel-ly..that belt fits too tightly.
You want to write a song..but that solos just too long and it don't make sensely..I can see it in your thighs so I better realize ..there's no food left for me" dern..dern...dernn..deerrnnnnn Ba ba ba ba ba
