Rainbow Live between the eyes Video/DVD
How do you think this stand up 37 years……(gulp!)….on? I’ve noticed a lot of positive comments on social media recently… praising the authentic live sound, RB soloing, camera work etc., I’m planning to watch in full tonight as I haven’t seen in ages.
My recollection is that is a very good representation of the 1982 tour, and of the JLT period in general. Tremendous live sound certainly, absolutely live……no doubt about that. JLT of course never drops a note throughout, though obviously his antics annoy some. Lots of great Ritchie, the legendary Tearin out my heart performance, essentially 4 different solos sections …….comparable in quality to his 70s Catch the Rainbow efforts in some respects. Aside from this All night long, blues, the crazy Spotlight Kid solo and Difficult to cure all strong from memory.

Always liked this one. Even if it was a big step from the Rising days. And considering I never cared for the JLT albums.

Much better than Tokyo 1984, starting with having the better drummer. LBTE shows a band playing a real strong performance to my ears.

Blackers is very animated in this one (drunk perhaps?)
his playing has some great moments but by this time he was beginning to show the sloppy crap that would turn up all too often in his 80s live work.
Never a fan of JLT Rainbow though so seldom watch this
