My idols: Blackmore - Gillan - Paice
All feeling age (you'd find it hard to see in Paice) but time moves.
Gillan sings well - not 70's well - but far to good for 73.
Blackmore - seems a bigger dip in form, but even as a pixie player he seemed undimmed by age. he;s still very good - but Ritchie was always great.
Paice - seems ageless but the health issues are a worry.
and the lovely man that is Morse - his rheumatoid arthritis puts a real time limit on him.

Gillans sings like a 73 year old with a bad cold and has done for decades now,
Blackmore still sounds unique but is miles away from where he was
Paicey still sounds like Paicey only more plodding and uninspired.
Morse is a nice man and a fine guitarist but time and illness have taken their toll.
Fact is age has badly faded all of their talents as it [sign in to see URL] are still legendary musicians though and their legacy is [sign in to see URL] continue doesnt make sense as they have become a bad parody of former glories IMHO.

Absolutely [sign in to see URL] for the last sentence! emoticon

Yes, their age will show on stage and they cannot compete with younger bands on [sign in to see URL]

That handicap will not show much on the studio.

DP still have some things that younger bands do not have.
They still writes quality songs.

I did actually mean to continue touring made no sense as they quite simply cant do justice to themselves or their music anymore, but yes a new album would be welcome.

Would have agreed with most of the above if I hadn't been to a show in 2017 which was miles above some of their performances I had witnessed in the years before.
Even today they are able to deliver shows which leave you breathless and happy.
Sure, it's not 1973 or 1993 any more.
But for sure on a reasonably good night they can wipe the floor with most of the other bands (no matter the age) out there. Proof was there.
So Iwould be looking forward to a new record
if it should eventually come and would dare to go to one more show as well!

When I saw them in Oslo last autumn, they did just "that"..
Did quite a few numbers from Now What?! and Infinite. And it all went down very well with the packed arena. emoticon

Because a band/ artist shouldn't release new material because they won't play it Live????

That's non-sense, and by that I mean that the new material is very welcome to be played Live, but doesn't HAVE to be.

An album for an album's sake is just as relevant.

That's Europe.

In the States we're lucky if we get a couple new ones thrown in to a greatest hits set, hence why I stopped going to their shows. I like a good portion of the MkMorse material, I just wish they'd play more of it when they come over.

There is a sayin.....

You can't teach old dogs new tricks.

My sayin is......

It's hard for old bands to learn new songs.

😁😜🤪
