Commercial radio sucks, haven't listened to it in over a decade. On SiriusXM, Ozzy's Boneyard plays Purple all the time.

Agree with you, where I live it's the same with one exception.
Karlstads Nya Radio is commercial too, but they have choosen to decide for themselves what to play. You get everything from them, even Glenn Hughes and deep purple mk IV and V..!
And they mix everything from disco to hardrock/metal.

Wow. These songs are just 23 years old. Seems that radio is up to what's happening despite my suspicion.

They focus mainly on "classic" songs, not new.
Which in my case is a good thing.

Re: Deep Purple & Radio

I NEVER listen to the radio, but from what friends have told me, when a station plays some Purple, it's SotW, CiT or Strange kind of Woman.

I have a friend who does a radio show, and he often plays Perfect Strangers and the odd new(er) track when a new release comes by...

To me it seems that radio has lost a lot of its relevance compared to the 20th century. Some decades ago the people listened to the radio to hear the news or the weather forecast and get some entertainment in between, today they check their smartphone apps for news and weather and use their Spotify playlists for entertainment. Furthermore we don't need radio for some concert recordings any more, we have YouTube.

I sometimes use headphones in my work because I have to, so I use headphones with radio. And then I got thinking about these things, not very important sure, just a reflection.
