Deep Purple & Radio
How is Purple doing on the Radio, both traditional and online where you live?
Here I get the feeling that they get less and less airtime, same as with Sabbath and Zep.

Classic Rock radio in Spain seems to play Smoke on the Water almost every day, and Burn quite often. I've heard Black Night and Highway Star a bit as well.
Whitesnake's Here I go again and Is this love get quite a bit of airtime and so do Rainbow's I surrender and a little surprisingly Difficult to cure.

Here in the Midwest (USA) they play Smoke and Hush often. Once in awhile WFT and Burn. One station DJ is friends with JLT so they play SOD and Stone Cold once in awhile. Sabbath gets some airplay and Zep gets a lot (too much). Boston and Springsteen also get way too much airplay.

Well, to be honest I can understand that this radio issue is important to some people. The "hey, my favourite band is played on the radio, so I'm a fan of a cool band" thing. (CG: This doesn't mean you.)
For me, this hasn't any meaning. If DP is played on some radio station between Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, what's the edge of that? Wouldn't it be nicer to have DP kept out of that? Moreover, all songs which have been mentioned in this thread are more than 30 years old, so radio doesn't seem to be useful to explore something new. Rather to remind the older listeners of the time when they were young.
To each their own, I don't care.
