Re: Bent Out of Shape
I "rediscovered" the album a year ago or so, and it is indeed better than I remembered.
The solos are certainly better than on PS.

Re: Bent Out of Shape
I tried really hard to like JLT era Rainbow but i couldn't.
When i first heard DTC and heard JLTs voice it was/is so far removed from what i enjoy that he quite simply ruined the band for me .
There were many very decent and promising tracks recorded by this era of Rainbow that would have sounded great with a different singer.
Its no coincidence that the tracks i like best from this era are the instrumentals.
Whilst i understand Blackers wanted to make more money going down the more commercial route, and DTE was a step in that direction but still had enough of the original Rainbow vibe to still appeal to me ,he definitely picked the wrong singer to replace GB in JLT IMHO .Cant say i really enjoyed the gigs from this era either due to JLTs cringeworthy stage persona. As for BOOS more of the same to my ears, decent songs ruined by the wrong singer.I often wonder what they would have sounded like with say Lou Gramm on vocals ?

Me to. I don't mind JLT on record but live he was a total embarrassment. I still shudder at the memory of DP in 91 when he had a cowbell which he hit with a drum stick for something to do when Ritchie was soloing.

Must have looked nearly as silly as when Gillan "plays" his congas with fists.

Just couldn't get to like JLT whatever I tried. I listened to BOOS the other week and didn't like it, even the instrumentals. I did manage to get through it which is more than I did with Slaves & Masters last weekend, which I switched off midway through the third song.

As a matter of interest, is the "Polar mix" of Anybody There much different to the album version??

Re:
Love all JLT led Rainbow albums.
Although I did not like the fact Rondinelli went and a quite clinical approach by Burgi now was in its place and did leave me almost cold, I still liked BOOS.
I still regret not going to the UK (No dates in Netherlands or Belgium)to see a show but hey who could have known it was the end?
Maybe a remix might help and boost in certain area's? I dont know, in many ways it was the dialectial outcome of its era.
