The low point of the Rainbow output, not a single track that I like.

Even Snowman..? emoticon

Not a track that I would search out to listen to. I had totally lost Rainbow by this point, didn't go to see them on the tour (1983?).

Makes us 2 then, totally lost them by this point. Got this album probably 15-20 years after release.

up to you, there elements of all era here, Firedance for example. superb song writing and performance, heavy yet melodic. DH I will conceded is quite [sign in to see URL] nonetheless love it, especially the guitar break.

I really like BooS. It often ties with DtC as my favorite of the JLT era.

Listened to it again this morning and I am afraid that it has not changed my mind.
Like Concrete God I didn't buy this album until many years later, and didn't miss anything by not having it.

Re: Re:

I rate BOOS as the best of the JLT-Rainbow albums too. Blackmore nailed the sound he'd been searching for since JLT joined the band. Street of Dreams and Desperate Heart are the pick of the album for me. The solo in DH is sublime.

Love the album , my favorite of the three - although some of the songs are Ritchie’s worst soloing on record.

I agree re the DH solo John, he said in Sounds I recall that he hadn’t been happy with the solo he’d laid down in Copenhagen but that the studio in update NY, was so good, it had really inspired him.

McP – I’m also biased a little as the Edinburgh shows that year were my first.

John – that’s interesting, which tracks are you referring to?

Re: Bent Out of Shape

I think the solo's are fine, but the production lets the album down. On the heavier numbers it is too muddy for my taste. The guitar sound is (for Ritchie) quite distorted and it's lost in the mix.

I think the album production is a counter reaction to SBTE, where it sounded (I suggest) very American and rock/pop commercial. It's my least favourite Blackmore album.

I think they wanted BOS to sound heavier and more European...

I suppose some might find it all a bit AOR at times but really, Cant Let You Go and Street of Dreams are excellent songs. Drinking with the Devil is good fun but sounds immature compared to the other two songs I mentioned imho.

Anybody There, to me, is one of the best guitar pieces RB has done. Listen to it many times.
