Booooooooooring. It's the same booooring stuff over and over again every year. Is there a sleeping smiley?

Rainbow had just 11 shows and there’s much more variety in the set and also musically in the live show comparing to what they’ve done since a decade.

What a f***ing joke.

I would not start with this type of argument, really..... it would not end up in good way for Ritchie´s Rainbow because of various reasons. DP after nearly half year break plays miles better than Rainbow at the end of their "tour", and let me tell you how many "newer" or recent songs Rainbow played...... ABSOLUTE ZERO!

That's not fair ptr.

Though the musicians are not as good as in their younger days and let's not include the singers.

Deep Purple is mainly composed of first rate, first class, virtuoso musicians and composers in Morse, Airey, Paice and Glover.

Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow is composed of what musicians? Maybe with the exception of Jens.

What if Blackmore has Rick Wakeman on keyboards, Billy Sheehan on bass and Mike Portnoy on drums?

What if Deep Purple has Morse on guitar, Nouveuo on bass, somebody on drums? What would DP sound like? First rate musicians and players make a big difference.

They have no choice they don't have a new album to promote, nothing new except one song perhaps.

The fact that the DP players have played maybe what 3000? gigs together over the last couple of decades would also contribute to the fact that they are a tighter unit than the current Rainbow lineup which has played 11 gigs over 3 years wouldn't you say ptr? Also the fact that DP have played much the same setlist over all those years would also help with the tightness and negate the need for any intense rehearsal after a layoff wouldn't you say ptr? emoticon

I personally think that DP have toured too much in the last years with Morse. You know - when you played certain songs for 2.000 times or so, you go on autopilot when you play them, and you don't deliver anything fresh on stage. That's the big problem. And Deep Purple have that problem. It always sounds the same for years now. They should have taken a lot more breaks. Being overrehearsed and doing endless touring isn't always good for musical inspiration.

Rainbow was never reformed to play NEW songs. It's a celebration of Ritchie's past with Rainbow and Deep Purple - nothing more. The Waiting for a Sign thing was just for fun and a one-off. It's not an active recording or touring band. Just a 3-4 dates band every year for fun. You can't compare that with Deep Purple.
But still - their shows differ a lot more than all DP shows together in one year. There's much more stuff going on. All based on improvisation and trying out things. Sometimes it works, sometimes it goes terribly wrong. But RB was always like that. He needs these changes or he's terribly bored. DP are the opposite - they play safe game. The songs are sounding always the same and they haven't changed their live versions, sometimes even the solos, in years!. But still - of course that's great for people who see them once in their life or every 10 years - but not for real DP fans. It's boring for them.

This says everything that needs saying. Lot's of things that RB and Rainbow have tried haven't worked, but they tried. DP haven't tried anything new for decades, same songs, same keyboard solo, same guitar solo.

Agree with your point but DP have toned down touring over past 5 years. They may play 30-40 shows at max these past few years
