It's the same as with dp, please consider they are getting on in age. Take it for what it is, really no need to complain. And it's the same with other artists getting to this age, some I have seen have been much worse.

We should not have so high expectations anymore. And that is fine with me.

No, it´s not the same as with DP.... it´s completely different. DP can still blow my mind and amaze me. In this case - anything better than disaster is going to be "success".

In that case every gig has been a success then ? emoticon
Why are you going anyway ? You clearly have no like for Blackmore? Is it just to attempt to validate your no doubt negative comments to come by stating that you have seen them in person??

You are wrong in nearly every sentence you wrote...
1.) As Deep Purple and Rainbow fan - I DO like Ritchie´s playing when he is in "rock guitar god mode on" (which obviously was happening in 90s with his 90s Rainbow era)... - but sadly, all those shows which happened in these years simply "suggests" that he completely lost his heart and soul for hardrock music. It disappeared completely - and lineup of current band simply proves that - it´s more Blackmore´s Night playing rock concert with guesting good but generic rock singer than Rainbow.
2.) Why I go to see them? Because I want to see Ritchie full rock gig in rock setting. Due to my age, I wasnt able to see Rainbow even with Doogie White (I was 11 years old when they broke up). It´s my first and ONLY opportunity to see him that way.
3.) I´m not millionaire to pay huge money for concert ticket and WISH concert to be crap.... it´s absolute nonsense... It´s honest fear. I WANT concert to be good, but sadly - it´s indicated that it wont, key factor for good rock concert is not fulfilled. Frankly speaking I´m still frustrated by selection of musicians for this band (because I KNOW for sure that it could have been MUCH better than it is - Ritchie is that type of guitar player who could have work with any A+++++ musician, but he decided other way; just if he asked the guys from Don Airey´s Band it would be completely different league)... but that´s what we get. I´m going to see Ritchie playing legendary rock stuff (trying to ignore rest of guys on stage), I have a feeling like going to museum (to watch remains of something which once was stunning) rather than great concert. It´s my first and only time seeing Ritchie playing rock - and I have a feeling that instead of Rainbow with the best possible lineup of musicians (no matter whether musicians from old lineups or brand new, for example Neil Murray as high profile bass player would make a big difference) I´m going to see a band where I simply feel that "quality" wasnt main criteria.... I simply feel that "comfort" and "expense" were main criteria (making as much money as possible with as less work as necessary). That´s how I honestly feel.

Hmm ok then let me get this straight ?you are going not wanting it to be, but are expecting it to be sh1t? because as you say you dont rate any of the band members but used to rate Ritchie?
Do yourself a favour then mate ,watch the whole show linked on this thread and if you dont enjoy it then sell your ticket, because thats what Blackers produces today and its not even close to the Doogie era, but it still shows the man has a unique talent but sadly its fading.

I´m going to see Ritchie performing rock show - as I said, it´s my only chance, so I´m NOT going to sell my ticket. I´m just honestly saying that I do NOT like much how current Rainbow play (which is related to style of musicians in current band) and because of that I expect rather worse than good. I dont expect to change my opinion after Prague show, but there is still a chance that I´ll enjoy it.

PTR take my advice, don't go there to scrutinize - I did this at Lorelei in 2016. Hopefully you're going with someone. Have some drinks, get in a good mood and just enjoy yourself. Sometimes you need to look around and see that everyone else is having a great time. Don't have Live on Stage or Black Masquerade comparisons in your head.

Theres NO CHANCE that you are going to enjoy it with that kind of mindset??
You stated that you dont have money to waste ,and yet you have spent money to go and see a band you dont like???Whats the point ? You said you want to see Blackmore in a rock setup because you liked him in his rock god days but are too young to have seen him back then?Hes now 73 years old and far from a rock god hes an old man.I dont understand your thought process?you have missed the boat for seeing the Blackmore of old.

 emoticon

At the top of my mind Judas Priest and Johnny Winter. Winter had to sit all the time and had nothing to show.

Old adage.................

The more YOU drink they BETTER that YOU will think they sound

Reality is they actually won't sound better and tomorrow you'll be the ticket price poorer and have a nasty hangover!!

Happy Days!

Hi,
Been here for some years now and normally I just read about your thoughts and discussions. Quite fun to follow.
I have been a big fan (one of the biggest I think)of Ritchie since 1973 and I have seen him 12-13 times. Saw him in Loreley, Bietigheim and London. Did not like all of it but still there are many moments where you just smile an/or release a tear of his solos. Cant find any guitarist that makes ones feeling react in the same way. Not for the speed or fantastic ideas he has in his improvisation but more for the feeling and tone he still have in some solos. I really like the Helsinki show and parts from the other two. Think he is getting warmer in his clothes. The bad thing is that he not play CTR any longer. If you liked Ritchie before I can not understand that some of you had bad ideas about his playing today. He had his problems with hands and he is now 73! Just listen to him, enjoy as long as he still play.

Doesn't really matter the reality as long as you enjoy yourself. You might die on the way home so might not even get chance to come on to the forum to slag it off which would be a terrible shame. I'm not paying my money on the off chance that he will play like a youngster again, we all know this band is limited but I don't know if you understand that it is still possible to have a good experience, a nice time, a buzz.
