Maybe we should all make the best of what we can from all of them? I completely agree. There's always some magic when I listen to them doing what they do now. I saw Ian Paice (w/ Purpendicular) recently, and it was a great feeling, and I guess it would be the same if I had the occasion to go to a Rainbow show. I saw DP in Birmingham in November 2017. Of course they are nothing like the MIJ version of the band, but I was strangely warm to them. They were doing what they do, and there were odd moments that took me back to my youth that I thought were just great. I haven't been to see Rainbow on these recent tours, but I have seen clips on YT where there has been the odd flash of magic. Not for 90 minutes every night, but just enough for me to view the shows as worthwhile.nondisclosed_email@example.com (leelyt)Tue, 17 Apr 2018 08:51:11 +0000 Re: COMPLETE st petersburg show on youtubehttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p515256,from=rss#post515256https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p515256,from=rss#post515256quote:leelyt wrote: All of our heroes from Mark II are old, or in the case of the great JL, gone. Did not like all of it but still there are many moments where you just smile an/or release a tear of his solos. Cant find any guitarist that makes ones feeling react in the same way. Not for the speed or fantastic ideas he has in his improvisation but more for the feeling and tone he still have in some solos. I really like the Helsinki show and parts from the other two. Think he is getting warmer in his clothes. The bad thing is that he not play CTR any longer. If you liked Ritchie before I can not understand that some of you had bad ideas about his playing today.
