Dare I say it's a bit of a moot point?

In the end, Ritchie wanted to do something different, and no doubt he would have done it one way or the other - whether provoked, or provoking.

What really in my view was not predetermined, was that BN would go on for over 20 [sign in to see URL] was a big gamble, and I can totally imagine Ritchie being ready to go back to rock if it had not panned out. Let's go back and think about the plans to reunite the Rising lineup, and I believe there were also some interviews a year or two into BN, where he mentioned recording another Rainbow album.

When he realized BN was able to stay afloat, he had many more reasons to continue with that rather than to go back to rock.

When they were thinking of putting Rainbow back together for a tour just before Cozy died there was no talk of the 'Rising' line up, They were planing on Bob Dasily and David Stone

All I want to say its a shame doogie didn't do a second album with rainbow or more shows. I only saw him live in rainbow once in 95 and only found out about the show 24 hours before hand .

Another album would've been great. I saw the Detroit show (and have it on cd). Sounds really good for an audience recording as does the band and Doogie (despite him saying he had the flu).

Over the years I have gotten to like SIUA, but let's be honest it was a contractual obligation. I don't think a second album was ever on the cards.
