BLAH BLAH BLAH...

Someone said "Doogie has also responded (on here I think) on the payment thing, the fact is that in 1997 gigs were few and far between, so in order to survive they requested an increase in pay."

Doogie says: I NEVER asked for an increase in pay/wages EVER.

So please unless you have a quote from me saying what you are suggesting I said, may I politely request that you stop putting words in my mouth for the masses to chew over. It is simply bad form.

I left Rainbow for perfectly understandable reasons after the show in Esbjerg. Ritchie knows why I quit. I know why I quit. I have not spoken with him or his management since.
You can chose to believe this or not. I can't help you with that.

He does talk a lot of sh!te sometimes. Please don't encourage him. Quite why he has a stick up his arse about me is something I will ponder at a later date. Almost everything he has said, apart from the good bits, is just silly and whether believes it or not is not worth a candle.

Hi Doogie, yes my mistake I mis-remembered what I read in Jerry Bloom's book, my humble apologies!

It's clear for anyone in the know RB's recent quotes are incredibly silly without anything to back them up, quite sad really.

Re: new ritchie interview on why he broke up with doogie white

Doogie White is a really very genuine straight forward guy, incredibly humble, despite his huge talent both vocally and as a writer, and he's very down to earth. When you meet people you get a vibe from them and over a few meets you see if that initial impression is maybe right or wrong. To me Doogie is exactly what he seems, genuine, hardworking, honest and Scottish( which is most important! ) Does he have an ego? yes but it's very regulated, besides Who doesn't and which front-man doesn't, it goes with the territory, BUT he does have the talent to support an ego, that's what counts.

Obviously I don't know what happened in Rainbow but I can't really see DW demanding more money with menaces from Blackmore. Not his style at all.

I also can't see him refusing to play the gigs either, it's both a living for him and he clearly loves to sing and perform so refusing to play, to me, seems both unlikely and unrealistic.

For me a more likely scenario is that DW saw the writing on the wall and saw how Candice was being encouraged to take over more of the vocal / lyrical creative stuff and perhaps DW didn't want to get involved in that given that Blackmore and Candice were an item. On that basis DW would always lose out. Who can tell.

One thing I'd pretty much guarantee is that Doogie wasn't a money grabber as Blackmore has said. It doesn't make sense to demand double money today for a few gigs and risk getting the push from what was still a quite significant band with tour plans stretching into the distance. Short term gain and a long term loss, doesn't make sense to me.

Plus DW has said before he'd work with RB again in a heartbeat, hardly likely if they squabbled about cash!

Well, who wouldn't?

As odd as RB can be these days, being the singer of Rainbow (again or for the first time) is probably a career changing move and a great way to get exposure (if only that!).

What actually happened and what Carol Stevens said to RB had happened are probably wildly different.

Given all the stories about how unpleasant she is i suspect RB hasn't heard the truth (or if he has he's ignored it)

AH the ginger terror that is the Monster-In-Law...
That oran-ga-tan, is totally out her depth in a business she doesn't understand, looking after her golden goose. She probably made it up to make sure Blackmore would work with Candice, as that's more financially viable for her and her daughter!

I'd guess Blackmore gets a very filtered version of events on most topics, which may suit him anyway!

Equally I suspect Doogie White gets sick and tired of being billed as an Ex-Rainbow Singer, when he's done plenty of other stuff in his career as well. Perhaps that was his initial big break but he has done a lot more both before and since Rainbow.

It must be like these actors who play in Soaps, like Coronation street, they really never escape from it, as they are always billed as ex-soap-star and so for Doogie it's rarely Doogie White, Voice of Rock and almost always Doogie White [sign in to see URL] from which it's half a life time ago anyway, so he must find that tedious.

Being an ex Rainbow member sells tickets even today ,so I suspect Doogie is quite happy to be billed as [sign in to see URL] all what else has he really done that is as significant and well known?

Bonnet, JLT and White have all done much more than just Rainbow, but it's always going to be their biggest achievement. And there's nothing to be ashamed of!
