We should get you a copy autographed by the master and with a special, hand-written foreword by Candice where she discusses her vocals [sign in to see URL] bet that would be some surprise!;-)

My wife likes "Winter Carols"(she also likes Blackmores Night much more than DP). Didn't Candice also do a solo CD? I wonder how well it did?

There is obviously a demographic buying the (BN) material who are not represented here.

Just because many forum members dislike it (the BN material) does not automatically mean that it is bad material, it just means that they have different tastes, expectations, needs and desires.

Marketing and promotion is all about targeting a potential audience to create "delight" (and a willingness to purchase) - me thinks that this forum is not one of those target segments?

I suggest that getting upset and frustrated about it doesn't help, as the material was not intended for this forum?

I am no great fan of of BN either. However, I do have opinions about the latest Rainbow I Surrender release ... which did not meet any of my expectations.

the solo album by CN was ................
Utter sh1te and I think it's fair to say sunk without a trace, thankfully.

Remove Blackmore from the picture and Candice is totally forgettable. You can find better and more authentic singers in any karaoke bar ANY night of the week. Blackmore's Night is nothing without Blackmore, without Candice..... nobody would even notice. Mostly the backing singers have sh1t all over her for vocal performance, which is why they've all been replaced. They sing and she wails, eventually either their ears can't take it or living with her "I'm a star ego" is more than they can take and her stage patter drives them nutz!.

Blackmore has done what he always does.......
Proves that he can sell sh1te with sugar on and his fan-boys will just lap it up, like there was no tomorrow. Essentially he re-proved the point again with the latest Rainbow. Having sold y'all Blackmore's Night with a dreadful singer, he went on to sell you a totally under rehearsed Rainbow show, which owed most of it's "charm" to the utter confusion surrounding it. The only upside was that at least they didn't have the complete fanny JLT singing again.

Have a listen to Candice wailing here, around the 3:00 mark it's very well demonstrated, she's flat/sharp and entirely off pitch for much of the song, the poor people trying to do backing vocals try to cover it but it's beyond impossible! There are 100's of examples on the net of Candice wailing her tits off.

Now when you hear Candice in interviews you might be excused for thinking she was a serious talent, rather than just Blackmore's Blonde Burd!

BTW don't hear or see much of the Orangatang Mother-In-Law these days, presumably she stays home and scares the grandchildren instead of scaring the audiences!

Merry Christmas All and Happy New Year!

Nicely done, well-constructed lead up to the final wishes!:-)

No, seriously, I agree there are better singers out there, but sometimes I feel like we exaggerate a bit with her - c'mon, it's not like the people enjoying any kind of commercial appeal these days have anything much to teach her.
We have been spoiled, living in a time when talent and success were (relatively) closely matched. These days, the less you can do, the more you earn.

I guess that when people think about RB they think about Deep Purple and Rainbow. Whilst he has been in BN for longer than either of those bands, the style of music was such a change of direction that many fans of the former bands can’t get into BN.

Candice Knight is far from the only person who has found a position in the music industry through who she knows rather than any god given talent. . I have listened to a couple of BN albums and they didn’t stay with me at all, but equally I can say the same about DP since HOBL.

This doesn’t mean they are sh***, it simply means that I didn’t like them.

I have seen BN live and found Candice to have great stage presence, great communication with the audience and a reasonably good voice.
She didn't stand out in any way, good or bad, singing wise.

I've just been contributing to the Aerosmith forum. I don't like Aerosmith but repeat my contrary opinions time and time again and I would like to make fans of theirs feel deflated for liking them.
