That's an impressive collection PT, but I notice you don't have "Abandon" and "Bananas" on vinyl LP. emoticon

Nope. You're right.

I remember holding the Bananas Lp in my hands when it came out, but Lp's didn't really interested me anymore back then, so I didn't grab it (of course the awful cover didn't help either).

I also don't have RotD, but planning on getting it.

I have both Bananas and Rapture on vinyl and I wouldn't say they sound necessarily better than the cd, apart from the warmer feel of vinyl. Bananas came with a few fruit-shaped sweets and now it's also a bit more special to me because it's adorned by Gillan, Glover and Paice's autographs on it!

Re: Collecting Deep Purple studio albums on vinyl

I can't compare to some of these collections, but I started collecting vinyl again a couple years ago. My DP collection feels weak at this point.

In Rock
Machine Head
Made In Japan
WDWTWA
Burn
Stormbringer
CTTB

I need to pick up Fireball at some point, and probably Perfect Strangers.

I am unsure whether it is worthwhile to buy material recorded and produced in a digital format, does taking the digital recordings and putting them on vinyl actually improve the sound? My thought is buy it in the media it was originally produced for. Analog recordings on vinyl, modern recordings on cd.

There is certainly logic in your thinking. However I book the Infinite deluxe box set and the 2 x vinyl album sounds really good (not withstanding whether you think the songs are good).
When played through a decent amp/sub woofer/speakers combo the CD sounds dreadful, but OK in the car with cheaper speakers.

My local record shop has HoBL on vinyl (used) and I keep picking it up and putting it [sign in to see URL] because I don't like the album, but just because its so edited compared to the [sign in to see URL] honestly don't know if I'd listen to it.

I'm lucky that I was able to get a sealed original US pressing of STORMBRINGER, I open it and listen to it and sounds great!

My brand new "Rapture of the Deep" vinyl has finally arrived, it's on purple color vinyl with the splatter of color. It's great to have and it's a double album.
