Long Beach 71, Graz 75 & Long Beach 76

Folks,

All three are missing from my collection. Any views on whether they will be additive? I have the following official recordings:

Mk 2 - Concerto, Kneel & Pray, In Concert, Scandinavian Nights/Live In Stockholm, Live in Denmark, MIJ/LIJ

Mk3 - MIE, Final Concerts, Live In Paris from that tour.

Mk4 - This Time Around, Foxbat

Just running through a few previews on i tunes, Long Beach 71 seems really good, Graz has a different version of Gypsy and Stormbringer seems interesting on Long Beach 76..

Foxbat and Long Beach 1976 are the same shows. Tommy is in top form for this show. Long Beach 1971 is a great show! Graz is good but not the entire show. YFNO is missing the drum solo and the encore(s) are missing. Space Truckin from this show is my least favorite of any version.

Re Foxbat, I didn't realise that doggone! Is there a difference in quality? If I recall, Live In Stockholm was significantly better than Scandinavian Nights and the running order was corrected...

Long Beach 1971 is entirely essential, as is any Mk 2a release. Graz is a pretty killer show, but sadly incomplete as stated above. If you're satisfied with the quality of Foxbat, I wouldn't be in a rush to purchase Long Beach 1976. I've owned several different versions of this through the years, and the original mid-90s releases still sound the best to my ears. The later versions are mastered much louder by comparison and sacrifice some sound quality.

Kinski is right. To my ears, they are all good quality sounding. It seems that the earlier version had a better bass sound.

Long Beach/Foxbat is a pretty good show. Paice and Lord are at their best and Tommy Boy plays real well. Even the mangling of the MKII stuff by Coverdale and Hughes doesn't wreck the show. emoticon I can do without 'Georgia On My Mind' and the vocal part of 'This Time Around', but they do have their moments here and there. I can't compare the sound between the early and later releases, since I only have the KBFH release..

The other two are what they are, with Long Beach '71 being totally essential.

They are all excellent shows. Hughes is annoying on the Graz and Long Beach 76 shows, and Coverdale is un-listenable on Long Beach 76, but on both shows musically the band are on fire.
Long Beach 71 is MKII at their best.

Unfortunately, Coverdale isn't unlistenable, because you can hear him. emoticon Unbearable might be a better term.

Is this Montreux 1969? I've never seen an "official" release called Kneel & Pray.

Anyway, I'll add to the praise of Long Beach '71. In my personal album chart it comes above MiJ.
