Just listened. To be frank its bloody terrible! I think the only way I will see them again would be as part of a festival or a tour package line up. To be honest I can't believe He's even thought about putting this out.

FFYL:

DC's vocals are... can it be called singing? He's just screeching. It's a great song but what's the point in doing it this downtuned? It just sounds like a distorted mess.

FFYL- very difficult to listen to that. There’s virtually nothing left of the voice and indeed the band I loved. I commented elsewhere that I genuinely believe DC is at the point of losing his credibility, and that’s not something I want to see. I really hate hearing him like this. And the guitar solo in this version is just awful. What must Bernie think listening to that.

Sadly, it's now become an obvious thing. Check Made In Britain or any other live recording from DC from the last decade. It's so very sad to hear these great songs being tarnished a) by the terrible (wall of) guitars b) by DC's current vocal abilities emoticon To me Into the Light is the last album by DC that I can listen to as a whole. I can only pick several songs from later albums.

For the sake of being a completist, I'm going to buy this and listen once for curiosity, but based on the comments in here, it sounds like a shame this was released at all...

DC is damned if he does, damned if he doesnt.

Improves vocals on live recording "WHAT A SHAM! Needs to go into the studio and improve vocals?"

Leaves vocals untouched "What a travesty, how bad are those vocals".

In my view live albums are filler regardless. So they shouldn't be released. If you go into the studio and record an album you are better off because it's under a controlled atmosphere with new songs.

He's a nearly 70 year old man that is willfully choosing to do hard rock. He's made his bed and will get criticized for it. Rightly.

But on live albums ... I wouldn't spend too much time criticizing it because it's filler anyway.

Great live albums are far from filler. The bands that are truly in their element in concert will come across much better there than in limp, under pressure studio recordings. Unfortunately, the last time Whitesnake released a brilliant live album was in 1980. I can't even listen to the studio versions of the songs from [sign in to see URL] THE HEART OF THE CITY anymore, as the live versions far outstrip them.

I watched the Blu-ray tonight in surround sound and you know what, it’s really good.

Better than Made in Japan but not quite as good as Live in the Still of the Night.

Mostly it’s very stylish. A couple of fake camera shakes and some of the filters are unnecessary.

The band sound great and some of the songs are really good. Mistreated, Ain’t No Love, Soldier of Fortune and The Gypsy stand out for me.

David sounds pretty good. Not sure how much work has gone on here but he holds up well. He is helped by the backing vocals (these don’t always work). He sounds great in the second half of Mistreated.

A worthy release that captures the show well.
