Fireball is the best and most special of all 20.
Even remembering bringing Fireball to music class in high school. My then teacher was very openminded to all sorts of music.
I played it in the school/music autitorium for everyone.

There is a very strong case for Fireball being DP'S "best" album. In my opinion the songs are the strongest "set" of sings they have ever put on one album.
This album is what Deep Purple are to me.

Every DP album is a DP album. Great musicians and singers
From mkI i mostly listen to the 3rd album, that's where they were getting ready to go
From mkII I like all albums except TBRO which I think is a terriible album with only a couple of good songs
MkIII I like both albums for different reasons
MkIV I really loved it from day 1. For me a highlight
MkV mixed feelings in the beginning, live a terriible singer but a band on fire. Now I like it, but not a favourite.
MkMorse never really enjoyed Morse's sound. Albums contained always some great songs, but in general too much mid tempo songs plodding along. Gillan's vocals getting weaker and weaker. But still DP

Almost word for word how I feel. I never went to see MK V and my disinterest carried very to when IG came back again. TBRO is an album I have never been able to get into and so never went to see then in 93, a poor decision with hindsight.

Re: Do you think that the 20 albums are worthy to carry the name DP?

Fireball is my favorite DP album. In Rock and MH are exceptional. I rather like Who Do We Think We Are. Gillan sounds real good on it.

I like HOBL as the best reunion album. The interplay between Blackers and Lord is excellent. Gillan sounds OK. His voice is a bit rough, but that kept him from trying to be MKIIa Gillan. Not so much on PS, which I think gets a pass because it is the first reunion album. Pick a song to knock off of it and insert Not Responsible. Why it wasn't on the original is beyond me.

I like S&M emoticon The playing on it is superb. JLT gets bashed way too much. He came in during a difficult time and did pretty well. His voice is fine, way better than GIllan's then or now.

Battle is pretty good. I think that it is Gillan's best sound of all the reunion albums. Too bad he killed it again. The Phenix only comes around every five-hundred years. Gillan's voice doesn't have that long.

I like the Morse-era stuff. ROTD gets pounded here, but it is really good. Abandon is probably my least favorite. Infinite is not as good as Now What.

I never cared for the MKIII albums. Some good tunes mired in Coverdale and Hughes. The band was great live, propelled by the Big Three.

MKBolin was OK. Coverdale and Hughes actually sounded decent, but the band was on the big downhill slide.

MKI is pretty good. I have the albums, but play them sparingly. I will put them in and pick various tunes, rather than listen to them in their entirety, for the most part.

NW and Infinite are strong albums. Especially considering at which point in their career they have been released.

The initial excitement of a new purple album has worn off, but I return to both albums on a regular basis. Which is more than I can say about many others..
