Surprising - Great video for a great song for a great album
Ok, so this was inspired by the great video of The Surprising. Can't watch enough of it.
I know Infinite is a hit and miss with many fans, but for me, it's one of the greats. Thoroughly enjoy the album.... eh, even the occasional listen to the superfluous cover song. I still listen to it all the time.
I won't get many (any?) that will agree with me, but I will take any non-cover song from Infinite over 50% of the studio recordings from the iconic Machine Head. That's how much I like it.
And what is with the excellent videos from this album? Johnny's Band and The Surprising are inspired videos. They only did Vincent Price from NW, right? That was a great video too.

Re: Surprising - Great video for a great song for a great album
Great tribute video for the various incarnations of the band, and great animation. The video makes an otherwise mediocre song become incredible, especially when the Stormbringer appears during the song's solo. Love the video. However, the song still remains mediocre in my opinion.

Agree, Infinite is a very good album. Not ahead of Machine Head but very good. To top the classics of the seventies is probably impossible at this stage.
Enjoy I very much though.

Re:
I have watched the video four of five times, now I like the song. But I guess that if I hear the song without the video, I'll miss the video.

I didn't exactly say it was a better album than Machine Head .
MH has 3 stellar tracks and four total that would shine with live performances. That's what differentiated them... all IMO of course.
In Rock is a different story altogether.

I know you didn't. For me Machine Head is pure classic dp. All of it.

For me MH is a classic album that became redundant with the release of MIJ.

Re: Surprising - Great video for a great song for a great album
Videos do serve a purpose. After watching this video numerous times to spot all the albums, the song stuck in my head. I decided to listen to the CD again (after giving up on it). Now I think Infinite is an excellent album!! Not a bad Track on it(Well Roadhouse Blues is kind of boring) (IMHO) with The Surprising, All I Got is You, and Johnny's Band being the stand out tracks.
